In response to reports from EbMaster (originally published by People magazine) suggesting that Blake Lively’s legal dispute with her “It Ends With Us” director and co-star Justin Baldoni is based on creative disagreements, Lively’s lawyers have issued a statement denying this. Instead, they assert that their client’s allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation against Baldoni are substantiated by solid evidence.

According to Lively’s lawyers’ statement, this issue is not a disagreement stemming from creative differences or a he-said-she-said scenario. Instead, as claimed in Ms. Lively’s lawsuit and what we will demonstrate in court, Wayfarer Studios and their allies have allegedly acted illegally, retaliating against Ms. Lively for trying to ensure safety on a film set through astroturfing tactics. Furthermore, their reaction to the lawsuit has been to escalate further attacks against Ms. Lively since she filed it.

Every workplace and industry prohibits sexual harassment and retaliation. However, when faced with such accusations, some may try to deflect blame by claiming the victim was asking for it, or that they were the ones who misunderstood the intentions. Another common tactic is to switch the roles of accuser and accused, implying that the offender is actually the one being wronged. These strategies serve to downplay and make light of serious misconduct allegations.

At the end of December, Lively submitted a grievance alleging that Baldoni had sexually harassed her on the set of “It Ends With Us”, as well as orchestrating a defamation campaign to harm her public image during the movie’s premiere. In response, Baldoni initiated a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times, the media outlet that published Lively’s complaint in detail and reported extensively on Baldoni’s alleged smear tactics towards her.

In a subsequent interview with NBC News, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, affirmed that Baldoni intends to file a lawsuit against Lively personally, due to the allegations she has made against him.

Freedman informed NBC News that they are currently addressing Baldoni’s lawsuit against Lively. He also stated emphatically that Lively’s claim about Baldoni’s supposed smear campaign is entirely untrue. Moreover, he expressed his readiness to make public every text message related to the case, allowing people to see the truth and form their own conclusions.

Freedman additionally made an appearance on NewsNation’s “Cuomo” program to clarify why his client is taking legal action against The Times. He asserted that the article published by The Times was a blatant disregard for truth and emphasized that no investigative journalism was conducted at all.

In their recent statement to People, Lively’s legal team clarified that media statements do not serve as a defense for the allegations against Ms. Lively. They confirmed that they will persist in pursuing her claims in federal court, where the validity of the case is decided by the rule of law, rather than exaggerated remarks and threats.
