Titled “Lilies Not For Me,” a heartfelt queer romance drama by Will Seefried, featuring Fionn O’Shea (“Normal People”) and Robert Aramayo (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”), has been picked up for North American distribution by Gravitas Ventures.

In 1920s England, the story “Lilies Not for Me” unfolds, centering on a gay author and his psychiatric nurse who develop an unconventional bond through a sequence of doctor-recommended outings. The narrative reveals that he shares with her the tale of his past relationship with a former friend, which became tumultuous when they resorted to a dangerous treatment in an attempt to suppress their illicit feelings towards each other.

In April of this year, Gravitas Ventures – a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company – plans to make the film available for online streaming and rental via cable services.

Danielle Gasher, Vice President of Acquisitions and International Sales at Gravitas Ventures, expressed her excitement about releasing the touching period drama “Lilies Not For Me,” a film delving into the intricacies and perils of queer relationships in the 1920s. She made this announcement while sharing that the deal for this release was finalized with UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.

This extraordinary film is brought to life by the visionary team behind “Call Me by Your Name,” Emilie Georges and Naima Abed at Paradise City (based in France and the U.K.), along with Hannes Otto, Roelof Storm, and Seefried from their freshly established banner, Wolflight (USA/South Africa). I have the honor to serve as an executive producer, alongside Julia Zak for Cinetic Media, Cindy Gabriel for Giant Films, Vincent Mai, Alessandro Iovino, and Anthony de Rauville. The esteemed UTA Independent Film Group is responsible for representing domestic rights in North America.

Memento International has transferred the rights for “Lilies Not For Me” in France to ASC distribution, who will debut it in cinemas during Q1 of 2025. In Germany and Austria, the rights have been given to Salzgeber, while in Indonesia they have been sold to PT Falcon. Negotiations for other territories are ongoing.

The final addition to the new cast includes Erin Kellyman, who starred in “Willow” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” Jodi Balfour from “Ted Lasso” and “The Crown,” and Louis Hofmann, known for “Dark'” and “All The Light We Cannot See.
