Amy Schumer adopts a pregnant persona in the latest trailer for Netflix’s mature comedy titled “Kinda Pregnant.
As a cinema enthusiast, let me share my take on describing the movie scenario:
In the movie, I found myself engrossed in the character of Schumer, portraying Lainy Newton, a freshly single teacher yearning to become a mother. Naturally, when I discovered her best friend Kate (played by Jillian Bell) was pregnant, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy. This led Lainy to concoct a tiny white lie, disguising herself with a phony baby bump. The plot thickens as she crosses paths with her ideal man (Will Forte), all while pretending to be expecting.
Does it ever happen that you tell a story so elaborate you’re unsure how to escape it?” she queries in the trailer. Despite this, Lainy maintains her deception, playing along with her fictional pregnancy and budding romance.
As she approaches Forte’s character, Lainy inquires if he has ever been with someone who was nearly giving birth. “You’re the least pregnant person I’ve ever been with,” he quips playfully. “I prefer them to be very close to their due date.”
Or:
As she nears Forte’s character, Lainy inquires if he has ever dated someone who was about to give birth. “You are the least pregnant person I have ever been with,” he jokes. “I like them to be almost ready to deliver.
Meanwhile, Lainy subjected the lump to quite an ordeal, contorting into splits at the nightclub, taking a tumble during yoga and accidentally setting fire to her stomach. It appears only one of Lainy’s close acquaintances, a coworker named Urzila Carlson (who is also a comedian), is privy to the truth. She doesn’t mince words with her friend: “How audacious of you to parade around with that phony belly! What if someone you know discovers you?
It’s a given that viewers will discover when the movie “Kinda Pregnant” becomes available on Netflix, which is scheduled for February 5th. The film was directed by Tyler Spindel, who happens to be the nephew of Adam Sandler, and it was produced by Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison. The cast includes Damon Wayans Jr., Brianne Howey, Alex Moffat, Joel David Moore, and Lizze Broadway in addition to Sandler.
Amy Schumer first gained prominence in the 2015 comedy “Trainwreck,” which was a box office success, followed by appearances in “Snatched” with Goldie Hawn (2017) and “I Feel Pretty” with Michelle Williams (2018). On television, she produced several shows, including “Inside Amy Schumer,” a sketch comedy series, “Amy Schumer Learns to Cook” on Food Network, and the three-part documentary series “Expecting Amy” about her real pregnancy experiences. Her latest TV venture was the two-season run of “Life & Beth” on Hulu. She has also voiced a character in John Krasinski’s family-friendly movie “IF,” played a minor role in Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart origin story “Unfrosted,” and “Kinda Pregnant” is her first leading film role since “I Feel Pretty.
She expressed her hope that the movie ‘Kinda Pregnant,’ which she contributed to writing, will be among the ten funniest films throughout her lifetime, telling EbMaster. She believes it could be just as amusing as ‘Trainwreck.’
