This Valentine’s Day, you could find yourself seeing red, as Sony Pictures unveiled the initial trailer for “Heart Eyes,” an upcoming horror-comedy romance from the director of “Werewolves Within” and frequent Dropout collaborator, Josh Ruben.
The screenplay for “Heart Eyes” was penned by Phillip Murphy, along with Michael Kennedy and Christopher Landon, who also co-wrote “Freaky.” In this film, Olivia Holt from “Cruel Summer” and Mason Gooding from “Scream” portray two unfortunate coworkers who become the targets of a masked murderer on Valentine’s Day.
On Valentine’s Day, as they work overtime in Seattle, two colleagues unknowingly get caught up in the Heart Eyes Killer’s rampage. Believed to be a romantic couple by the cunning murderer who targets pairs, they are forced to spend the night of love fleeing for survival instead.
Alongside Jordana Brewster, Gigi Zumbado, and horror veteran Devon Sawa, the cast is set. Earlier, Ruben shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “My affection for horror movies matches my fondness for romantic comedies. I can’t wait to bring to life my toughest genre blend yet – a ruthless slasher set within a nostalgic romantic comedy world.”
Or, in a different way:
In this upcoming project, Jordana Brewster, Gigi Zumbado, and Devon Sawa join the cast. Ruben shared his anticipation for the film earlier: “My passion for horror films is only surpassed by my love for romantic comedies. I’m thrilled to tackle what will be my most challenging genre blend yet – a chilling slasher set within a nostalgic rom-com setting.
The movie titled ‘Heart Eyes’ was filmed in New Zealand during June 2024, under the guidance of cinematographer Stephen Murphy. It is being jointly produced by Spyglass Media Group and Divide/Conquer.
