Dokapon: Sword of Fury is coming to PC via Steam

The official webpage for the hybrid RPG/board game titled “Dokapon: Sword of Fury,” previously available on Nintendo Switch, is now accessible, hinting at an upcoming PC release of its recent remastered version.

2023 turned out to be an exciting year for me as a gamer when Sting revealed their plans to remaster the 1998 PlayStation 1 RPG/board game hybrid, initially exclusive to Nintendo Switch. Fast forward to 2024, and the highly anticipated release finally happened on August 1st. However, international gamers like myself were left in the dark about a global release until today!

To my delight, I stumbled upon a new Steam store page credited to Sting themselves. The hint is clear – this classic title will be making its way onto Steam, promising English and Japanese support for a worldwide audience. Although an official announcement from Sting has yet to be made, the Steam page mysteriously popped up less than an hour ago according to SteamDB.

I can hardly wait to see the official confirmation and dive back into this timeless gem!

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect was published for PC by Idea Factory International, while the latest version is being independently released. At present, an official announcement regarding Dokapon: Sword of Fury has yet to be made, but it’s expected that we will receive one soon, possibly confirming its release on Steam. Meanwhile, Sting has taken charge of publishing Yggdra Union and Rivera: The Promised Land remastered versions in the Western market for both PC and Nintendo Switch.

The iconic pixel-art universe from yesteryear remains untouched, yet all visuals and 3D models have been modernized and enhanced with fresh effects to showcase their premiere on the large, high-definition screen! Every 3D model now resembles a cartoon character, while the 2D artwork has been refined. However, if you prefer the original pixel art, it can still be incorporated as needed!

In this game, you’ll face off against opponents. Don’t worry though, the battles are straightforward. To begin, a coin flip determines who goes first. During your turn, pick one of four attack options. Make a smart choice, and you’ll strike their weak point for maximum effect! However, if you guess incorrectly about their defense type, the damage could unexpectedly be inflicted upon you instead… Can you read your opponent like an open book? Will they be able to figure out your strategy? The outcome can change rapidly with just one mistake. Make your move and keep your fingers crossed!
