Exciting news for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) players and esports enthusiasts! Valve has made a long-awaited decision, announcing that Train will replace the widely disliked Vertigo on the Active Duty map rotation.
This improvement will delight players in both Competitive and Premier Modes, while also providing something thrilling for esports spectators tuning in at home.
On their brief yet endearing post about X, the CS2 account acknowledged “Good Morning” to BLAST.tv and indicated a preference for playing “Train” over “Vertigo.
It’s about time, to be honest!
If you weren’t aware, the famous de_Train (often simply called “Train”) map, which had been absent for three years and six months, made its comeback in mid-November 2024 in Counter-Strike. Valve took it out of the Active Duty map pool back in May 2021, but fans have been eagerly waiting for its return since then.
In competitive CS2, Vertigo has been played enough and is being replaced from the Active Duty map rotation by Trian, as it’s the least popular map among all in esports events, with a significant gap compared to other maps. It’s unusual for Vertigo to survive through a veto process.
Currently, Valve has not specified an exact timeline for when Train will take over Vertigo in the Active Duty map pool and Premier Mode, but it is expected to happen before the BLAST.tv Austin Major starting on June 9, 2025. Qualifiers for the new map should be held prior, so keep a lookout for its arrival relatively soon.
