Content creator Gladd, known for his work on Destiny 2, accused fans resistant to a new game in the series of hindering “a clean slate” or “a new beginning” for Bungie’s struggling looter-shooter game.

On January 5th, via a post on X/Twitter, Gladd – a well-known raider within the community who boasts numerous world-first clearings with Clan Redeem under his belt – countered a frequent argument: that the release of Destiny 3 could push away veteran players unwilling to begin anew from square one.

Those who express reluctance to try a new Destiny game because they don’t want to start from scratch with their gear – By resisting change, you may unwittingly be working against the very thing that shines brightest in this franchise: the excitement of a fresh beginning,” he pointed out.

Sceptical of the view, Gladd continued, “F**king bulls**t. You’ll drop D2 in a heartbeat.”

Those individuals who express: “I won’t play a new Destiny game if I have to start from scratch and lose all my gear.” –

They are, in essence, battling against the most enticing aspect that the series envisions – a clean slate.

However… complete nonsense. You’d jump ship from D2 at a moment’s notice. Grow up.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my disappointment over the trajectory of Destiny 2. Despite the overwhelming success and acclaim that The Final Shape expansion received in June 2024, attracting an impressive player base, the game’s population has noticeably dwindled following subsequent updates like Episodes Echoes & Revenant.

Due to a lukewarm response to both recent releases, large-scale job cuts at Bungie, frequent technical glitches, and a repetitive gameplay structure, many players believe that only the release of Destiny 3 could potentially revive the series.

In simpler terms, Gladd suggested that the community is eager for something new, and he imaginatively proposed that if Destiny Rising were launched as a full-fledged console or PC game, backed by all available resources, we could perhaps think of it as Destiny 3.

It’s clear to see the excitement among many people about Destiny Rising. Now, consider what would happen if this were a complete new main game release for consoles and PCs, with all available resources dedicated to it. One might even refer to it as Destiny 3!

In case a third installment arises, it’s likely that the Guardians would have to abandon their valuable equipment, much like they did when transitioning from Destiny 1 to its subsequent version.

It appears that the likelihood of Destiny 3 being released in the near future is very low, if not non-existent. As far as we know, there’s no production ongoing for a third installment, and it doesn’t seem like it will be coming out anytime soon. According to Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, who commented on this matter in August 2024, Destiny 3 wasn’t canceled because it never actually started development.
