One memorable moment during this season is from a game named “Mingle.” In this game, participants rush to assemble teams and step into rooms designated by certain numbers, all while the eerie lullaby, “Round and Round,” echoes in the atmosphere.
The tense atmosphere is amplified by the appearance of a lively, purple-hued character named Thanos (portrayed by K-pop star T.OP.). Despite the grave danger at hand, he exudes joy through his dance moves. His untroubled demeanor and captivating dance steps have left quite an impression on viewers, becoming a standout feature of Squid Game 2 for many.

On December 26, 2024, the second season of “Squid Game” began with episodes titled “One More Game” and “O X.” These installments unveiled the “Mingle” contest, where participants have just 30 seconds to assemble into a group. Afterward, they rush into numbered rooms to stay alive in this grim competition.
On December 30, a TikTok post by squidgamenetflix showcased the “Round and Round” song along with Thanos’s catchy dance moves. Within a week, this video garnered over 158 million views, igniting a popular trend almost instantly.
In this particular setting, Thanos performs dance moves reminiscent of the popular Bigbang song ‘Bang Bang Bang.’ Subsequently, he joins hands with another character, both breaking into laughter and whirling around in a circle together.

The video showcases TikTokers intertwining arms and whirling around in circles, capturing the free-spirited essence of Thanos.
Ever since then, countless videos have incorporated the “Round and Round” tune starting from January, as enthusiasts have been recreating not only the easy group dance routine but also Thanos’ individual dance steps.
2025 saw this trend become popular on TikTok with more than 82,000 videos posted, many of these videos receiving millions of likes and views each. This firmly established it as one of the earliest viral sensations of the year on the platform.
