As a seasoned movie enthusiast with over three decades of experience under my belt, I find myself deeply saddened and appalled by the recent allegations against Justin Baldoni, a man who was once a beacon of positivity in Hollywood. The reports of sexual harassment, fostering a toxic work environment, and attempting to smear the reputation of Blake Lively are not only shocking but also deeply concerning.

In response to Blake Lively’s startling claims, Sony Pictures, the studio behind ‘It Ends With Us’, has issued a statement. Lively accused director and co-star Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and alleged that he initiated a negative campaign against her.

As a supporter, I’m reaffirming my backing for Blake, given her remarkable work within the film industry. Today, just as before, I stand firmly behind her. Moreover, I vehemently denounce any attempts to tarnish her reputation. Such actions have no place in our professional world or in a civilized society.

Over the weekend, it emerged that Lively made a claim against Baldoni for sexual harassment, creating an unpleasant work atmosphere, and attempting to harm her reputation through a strategic smear campaign on social media. Lively asserts that Baldoni’s actions resulted in “significant emotional distress” for her and her family. In response, Baldoni’s legal representative Bryan Freedman described Lively’s allegations as disgraceful and filled with “blatantly untrue accusations.

Sony has added its voice to the increasing number of individuals advocating for Blake Lively. “The allegations are shocking and concerning,” Sony stated. “Employees should feel empowered to express their worries or file complaints. It’s illegal and unacceptable to retaliate against someone for exposing misconduct or inappropriate behavior.” SAG-AFTRA commends Blake Lively for her bravery in addressing the issue of retaliation and harassment, and for her demand for an intimacy coordinator during scenes involving nudity or sexual content. This move is crucial as it helps maintain a safe working environment.

Liz Plank, host of Baldoni’s “Man Enough” podcast, announced her departure from the show on Monday through social media. She expressed, “It’s time for us all to strive for something better, and I truly believe we can achieve it together. I will share more details as I work through this transition. In the interim, I remain committed to backing those who challenge injustice and make those obstructing progress answerable.

Colleen Hoover, author of ‘It Ends With Us’, posted a picture of her hugging Lively, praising, ‘From the moment we first met, you’ve been truthful, generous, encouraging, and patient. I appreciate having you in my life just as you are. Stay true to yourself, stay strong.’

In response to the recent allegations, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel (co-stars from “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”), director Paul Feig from “A Simple Favor”, and Lively’s sister Robyn have all voiced their support in a similar manner.

Baldoni has been dropped as a client by WME, who also represents Lively.
