As a dedicated admirer of the dynamic world of cinema, I am utterly thrilled about the upcoming sequel to “I Can Only Imagine,” titled “I Can Only Imagine 2.” The cast and crew assembly for this film is simply breathtaking, with seasoned talents like Milo Ventimiglia joining the fold.

Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company are gearing up for the making of “I Can Only Imagine 2,” which serves as the follow-up to the successful film “I Can Only Imagine.

In 2018, the movie earned more than $83 million at the U.S. box office. For its sequel, Brent McCorkle and Andrew Erwin will take on directing duties, with McCorkle also penning the script.

In “I Can Only Imagine 2”, John Michael Finley once again steps into the shoes of Bart Millard to tell the heartwarming tale based on real events. Joining him are familiar faces, such as Dennis Quaid, who reprises his character Arthur, and Trace Adkins as Scott Brickell, the MercyMe manager. A new addition to the cast is Milo Ventimiglia, portraying musician Tim Timmons.

The film is produced by Kevin Downes, Erwin, Cindy Bond, Millard, Daryl Lefever, and Joshua Walsh collectively.

Adam Fogelson, head of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating again with Kingdom on the continuation of Bart’s remarkable tale. He is certain that the blend of raw emotion and unadulterated warmth in this project will resonate with viewers worldwide.

When ‘I Can Only Imagine’ debuted, it touched countless hearts worldwide and offered a beacon of hope and motivation. This film’s success was instrumental in establishing Kingdom Story Company, our goal being to weave stories that spark feelings of intense optimism,” stated Downes. “We are overjoyed to revisit this universe and delve deeper into Bart’s remarkable journey – it marks the beginning of our sequel endeavors. Co-Directors Andrew Erwin and Brent McCorkle, together with Bart Millard, have skillfully created a narrative filled with emotional depth, inspiration, and unforeseen twists that will resonate with fans of the original as well as those discovering this tale for the first time.
