As a seasoned film aficionado with a soft spot for gripping dramas, I must admit I was quite taken by “The Old Man.” Having spent countless hours poring over the pages of thrillers and suspense novels, I found myself captivated by the intricate plotlines and Jeff Bridges’ mesmerizing portrayal of Dan Chase.

“The Old Man” has been canceled after two seasons on FX.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’d say I immersed myself in the captivating series, titled the same as Thomas Perry’s novel, where Jeff Bridges brilliantly portrays Dan Chase, a seasoned CIA operative with a past. In the first season, my character, after taking down an intruder at home, found himself on the run and in hiding. However, things took a dramatic turn in Season 2, as I joined forces with John Lithgow’s character, Harold Harper – a former FBI assistant director who initially sought to apprehend me. Our partnership was born out of necessity when our shared daughter, Emily, played by Alia Shawkat, was abducted by the formidable Faraz Hamzad, portrayed by Navid Negahban, a powerful Afghan tribal leader with his own claims on Emily.

The show titled ‘The Old Man’ debuted in June 2022, garnering praise from critics and attracting a large viewership. The second season concluded in October this year, retaining the favorable reviews it received initially, although a two-year hiatus seemed to reduce its audience size.

Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine created “The Old Man” for television and served as executive producers alongside Dan Shotz, Warren Littlefield, Bridges (presumably a production company or individual), David Schiff, Craig Silverstein, and Jon Watts. The series was produced by 20th Television in collaboration with the Littlefield Company.

Deadline was first to report new of the series’ cancellation.
