As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and frustration when it comes to Marvel Rivals. On one hand, the game’s cross-play features are a breath of fresh air, allowing me to take on friends or strangers regardless of their platform. However, the lack of cross-progression is like a party without the punch bowl – it just doesn’t feel complete.

Marvel Rivals has just been released on PC, PS5, and Xbox, allowing gamers to engage in battles with friends or strangers online using its cross-play functionality. However, a significant feature yet to be implemented is cross-progression, meaning that players’ progress isn’t currently saved across various gaming systems. As it stands, the progress you make on one system remains separate from the progress on another.

Currently, there’s no method available for merging all accounts into a single platform. Nonetheless, the team behind NetEase Games understands players’ desire for cross-progression and are actively working on it. Regrettably, implementing this feature in a game like Marvel Rivals isn’t straightforward.

According to Marvel Rivals creative director Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen, speaking with Dot Esports, cross-progression includes a number of rules that are unique to each platform. They are currently studying this issue and finding a solution for it. Once their team is prepared and has found the solution, they will inform everyone about it, with players being the first to be updated.

Four long years have passed since I’ve been yearning for a feature like this in Apex Legends, and now that they seem to have finally figured out the secret recipe, I can only hope we won’t have to wait much longer to see it in action.

Today, it was revealed that Marvel Rivals’ inaugural game event kicks off December 20, featuring a winter celebration centered around the character Jeff. Additionally, Marvel unveiled a brand new Marvel Rivals comic series for the Marvel Unlimited app, which debuted on Monday.
