As a movie critic, I find myself excitedly recounting my anticipation for David Corenswet’s upcoming venture, which sees him stepping out of the glossy Ryan Murphy universe and into the cape of Clark Kent. Unlike Superman, whose power is capable of shifting continents, Corenswet hasn’t had the chance to explore such grandeur in his previous roles like Ben Platt’s boyfriend in “The Politician” or characters from other Murphy productions.

The metropolis will be bustling with even more characters, including heroes and villains. Besides Superman, the movie will feature Nathan Fillion as the fiery Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. Anthony Corrigan from ‘Barry’ has been chosen to portray the strange Metamorpho, Isabela Merced will wield Hawkgirl’s mace, and Edi Gathegi is cast as Mister Terrific. Pruitt Taylor Vince has been chosen to play Jonathan Kent, Clark Kent’s father on Earth, and Neva Howell will depict Ma Kent.

According to Variety, Will Reeve, the son of Christopher Reeve, is set to feature in an upcoming film. The late Christopher Reeve was digitally incorporated into The Flash in 2023, a move that sparked controversy among fans. However, this new inclusion seems thoughtful and well-planned. In his role, Will Reeve will portray a television reporter, reflecting his professional background in journalism.

It’s typical for James Gunn’s productions to include Sean Gunn in some capacity, and according to Deadline, this trend continues as Sean will take on the role of Maxwell Lord – a character previously portrayed by Pedro Pascal in “Wonder Woman 1984”. In the comics, Lord started out as an ally of the Justice League before becoming a villain. Recently leaked set photos suggest that Lord will be providing financial backing for both Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl’s superhero careers.

When does it come out?

The movie is set to premiere in theaters on July 11, 2025, which coincidentally is the same day as his late father’s birthday. As a child, he didn’t quite understand me, but he always encouraged my passion for comics and films. This movie wouldn’t be possible without him, Gunn shared.
