As a cinephile with over three decades of film-viewing under my belt and a penchant for dark comedies, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about remaking “American Psycho.” However, upon hearing the news that Austin Butler would be playing Patrick Bateman, I found myself intrigued.
Regarding the movie American Psycho, despite some strong disagreements, it was indeed time for a remake. You might think the original is flawless, but imagine Patrick Bateman as a blonde instead. Fortunately, Luca Guadagnino recognizes this. In his new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, Austin Butler steps into the role of the main character, Patrick Bateman. Previously, there were whispers about Jacob Elordi, but while Bateman could certainly be tall, it seems obvious that a 2024 remake should have the platinum locks of someone like Lucky Blue Smith. The debate now centers around what kind of voice Butler will use during the months leading up to and following the film’s release. We suggest a transatlantic countertenor – it would certainly surprise everyone!
