As a seasoned esports enthusiast with countless hours logged into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, I must say that the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 is shaping up to be an unforgettable event. The Quarterfinal match between Team Liquid and Team Spirit was nothing short of thrilling, a testament to the skill and strategy these teams possess.
In the opening quarterfinal game of the Shanghai Major 2024 hosted by Perfect World, MOUZ knocked out The MongolZ in a decisive 2-0 victory. On December 12th, 2024, the second quarterfinal contest unfolded between Team Liquid and Team Spirit, a team often tipped as a strong contender for the tournament’s ultimate win.

Liquid vs. Spirit Match Report
On Anubis, initially, Team Spirit got the first chance in the Pistol Round on the CT side for Team Liquid. Yet, promptly countering their move, Team Liquid seized the opportunity to convert it, winning the third round. Subsequently, they increased their lead to 3-1.
In spite of some valiant efforts by Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, Team Liquid managed to gradually erode Team Spirit’s economy and increase their advantage. By the close of the first half, it was evident that Team Spirit, led by Leonid “chopper”, did not give up easily, as they fought back to equalize at 6-6.
In the second part of the game, Team Spirit seized a quick advantage when Danil “donk” Kryshkovets scored an ace (all five kills) during the Pistol Round on the T side. Team Liquid managed to score just two more rounds, while Spirit dominated the rest, culminating in Spirit winning Anubis 13-9.
On the map selection of Dust2 for Team Spirit, the Russian team took an early advantage with a 4-1 lead over Team Liquid. However, Team Liquid responded by scoring another round. The first half was characterized by frequent changes in the lead, but Spirit managed to keep a narrow edge, leading 7-5 before the switch to the second half.
On the T side of Dust2, Russell “Twistzz” Van Dulken, the in-game leader for Team Liquid, set the pace with an impressive four kills during the Pistol Round. This gave his team a solid foundation to compete. Regrettably, despite this strong start, Team Liquid succumbed to a daring force buy by their opponents, allowing Spirit to take a 8-6 advantage.
Regardless of Team Liquid’s valiant attempts, Team Spirit managed to secure a place in the Semifinals by maintaining composure on Dust2, eventually winning 13-11 and sweeping the series 2-0.
Due to their victory, Team Spirit knocked out Team Liquid from the Shanghai Major tournament. This coming Saturday, 14th of December 2024, they’ll be squaring off against MOUZ in the first semifinal match. We can hardly contain our excitement to find out who takes the win!
