José de la Torre, Actor From Netflix Series ‘Toy Boy,’ Dies at 37

As a movie enthusiast who has followed Spanish-language dramas for many years, I am deeply saddened by the passing of José de la Torre at just 37 years old. His role as Iván in “Toy Boy” was captivating and left a lasting impression on me, and his performance in “Amar es para siempre” was equally compelling. It’s heartbreaking to see such talent taken away so soon.

Sadly, José de la Torre, the actor famed for his role as Iván in the Spanish Netflix series “Toy Boy,” has passed away at the age of 37.

Initially, Spanish digital publication Montilla broke the news that the actor passed away on December 5th, following a prolonged struggle against an unspecified ailment. The following day after his demise, a funeral ceremony took place in Spain.

Back in June, I found myself faced with a challenging health issue that I’ve referred to as a “serious illness.” Consequently, I made the difficult decision to take a break from my acting career to focus on my treatment during the very same month.

Since its premiere in 2019, De la Torre has been associated with Netflix’s “Toy Boy.” The series spanned three seasons, encompassing a total of 21 episodes, until it concluded in 2021. The show centered around Hugo Beltrán, portrayed by Jesús Mosquera, a former stripper who was determined to clear his name after being wrongly imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit and serving seven years behind bars. This is as per the official show synopsis.

New actors joining the lineup are Cristina Castaño, María Pedraza, Carlo Costanzia, and Raúl Martiatto.

De la Torre was featured in 36 episodes of the lengthy soap opera titled “To love forever,” which ran for a long time. This show delved into the social and economic recovery of Spain’s working class during the 1960s, using the fictional “El Asturiano” tavern as its backdrop. José Antonio Sayagués and Mauel Baquerio were the main actors in this series.

Other credits include brief stints on shows like “Vis a Vis: El Oasis” and “Serve and Protect.”

La Torre is mourned by his father Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo, his mother Maria Jose Delgado Espejo, and his sister Marina – they are the ones who remain after him.
