Industry Heavyweights Aim to Drive Oscar FYC Buzz for ‘We Will Dance Again’ Nova Music Festival Documentary

As a cinema devotee with a keen interest in documentaries that delve into the raw truth of human experiences, I am deeply moved by the powerful narrative unfolding around “We Will Dance Again.” Having witnessed countless films over the years, I can confidently say that this documentary stands out as a testament to resilience, hope, and the unbreakable spirit of humanity.

Notable experts in the field are rallying backing for the documentary “We Will Dance Again” to be taken into account for an Oscar, as it narrates the tragic events that transpired at the Nova International Music Festival in Israel on October 7, 2023.

A group of notable figures including Marc Platt, Sean Penn, Scooter Braun, and Sheila Nevins are expressing their backing for the film titled “We Will Dance Again”. This film is jointly produced by Sipur, Bitachon 365, MGM Television, HSCC, and Susan Zirinsky’s See It Now Studios in partnership with BBC Storyville. The documentary, penned and directed by Yariv Mozer and produced by Michal Weits from HSCC, has previously aired on the BBC Storyville platform in the U.K. and Israel’s Hot Channel 8. Currently, it is accessible in the U.S. on Paramount+.

On Sunday, Platt, Braun, and others are arranging an exclusive viewing of their documentary at the Paramount Pictures studio lot. Following the screening, a panel discussion will be held, featuring survivors who lived through the tragic Hamas-led terrorist attack that sparked the Gaza conflict. In the horrific incident, over 360 people lost their lives and countless others were injured as terrorists attacked an outdoor festival in Re’im, southern Israel.

Penn, creator of the 2023 documentary “Superpower” on the Ukraine conflict, is advocating for “Dancing Together Again.

In everyday conversation, we often use the phrase ‘must-watch movie,’ but few movies actually meet this criteria in a literal sense. However, ‘We Will Dance Again’ is an exception – it’s both heartbreaking and enlightening, making it a film that truly deserves to be seen during our current times,” Penn expressed.

Nevins underlined that a film like “We Will Dance Again” serves as an ideal medium for portraying earth-changing occurrences and simultaneously aiding in healing from emotional distress.

The camera captures everything. This exceptional documentary transcends the brutality of Hamas’ inhumane actions, proclaiming ‘We shall dance once more,'” as Nevins expressed it.

The film pieces together the savage attack with video footage from a range of sources, including some incredibly disturbing material released online by Hamas terrorists. The ensuing war in Gaza has created a global humanitarian crisis that has left more than 44,000 Palestinians dead. Nearly 1,200 Israelis died in the Oct. 7 attack and 63 people remain captive from the 251 hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7.

Zirinsky, a veteran CBS News producer and ex-president of CBS News, highlighted that the movie primarily concentrates on the young adults whose lives were devastatingly impacted on that particular day.

Zirinsky stated, ‘This movie steers clear of politics – and its portrayal of the 12 survivors is true-to-life, making you feel like you’re witnessing history in real time. That’s why so many acclaimed storytellers from Hollywood have praised it. We tell this story as we remember those who tragically perished.’

The following individuals are also credited as executive producers on “We Will Dance Again”: Emilio Schenker, Michael Peter Schmidt, Ariel Weisbrod, Orly Arbell, and Gideon Tadmor from Sipur; Sheldon Lazarus, Ben Winston, Leo Pearlman, Ben Turner, and Gabe Turner from Bitachon 365; Dari Shay, Rinat Klein, Haim Slutsky, and Dorit Hessel from HSCC; Lucie Kon for BBC Storyville; Arturo Interian and Terence Wrong from See It Now Studios.
