As a seasoned gamer who has traversed countless virtual realms since my days of getting lost in the Valley of Mines and grinding for gold in League of Legends, I must admit that the gaming landscape has never looked more promising. Last year, the Korean studio Round 8 gifted us with Lies of P, a Souls-like game that gave FromSoftware a run for their money. Now, we hear of an expansion and a new title in development – a sci-fi survival horror game!
In the previous year, Round 8 Studios, based in Korea, unveiled one of the top Souls-like games that wasn’t created by FromSoftware – titled Lies of P. This game received overwhelmingly positive feedback, and as of March this year, a staggering 7 million players had engaged with it. Approximately half of these players were using their Game Pass subscriptions to access the game. Recently, the developers have revealed more details regarding their initial DLC and a potential sequel.
It’s encouraging to learn that an expansion for Lies of P might not keep us waiting much longer. According to EBN, a Korean news source, the DLC is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2025. Unfortunately, details about the content remain scarce, with only a musical piece and concept art revealed so far.
A more engaging topic to discuss is the upcoming Round 8 game, contrary to our previous assumptions, the developers have another title in store that they’ve labeled as a “sci-fi survival horror” genre. Interestingly, this new project is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and is planned for release on both PC and consoles (previously, Lies of P was made with UE4).
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when I hear this: It looks like we might be getting another installment in the Dead Space series! This comes as a bit of relief after the disappointment that was The Callisto Protocol. With the undeniable success of survival horror games, such as the Resident Evil series and the recent release of Silent Hill 2, it seems that this genre is more popular than ever. I can hardly wait to see what’s in store for us next!
If you’re wondering about the future of Lies of P, a spokesperson from Neowiz mentioned that this survival horror game is “one of the games being worked on by Round 8”. In other words, it seems that the sequel to Pinocchio’s adventures might be in development simultaneously.
