Shane Gillis’ ‘Tires’ Season 2 Casts Thomas Haden Church

As a seasoned movie reviewer with a penchant for recognizing talent, I must say that the casting of Thomas Haden Church in “Tires” Season 2 is nothing short of a stroke of genius. With his diverse portfolio spanning from small screen hits like “Wings” to big-screen blockbusters such as “Spider-Man 3” and “Easy A,” Church brings a depth and versatility that is sure to breathe life into the character of Phil, Shane’s wealthy yet immature father.

Actor Thomas Haden Church is set to be part of the second season cast for “Tires,” Shane Gillis’ comedy show on Netflix.

The second season of the show was confirmed in May, even before its initial release on Netflix. Comedian John Mulaney financed the six-episode first season of “Tires” himself, and Netflix secured the series as part of a deal which also granted him another stand-up special on their platform. This upcoming special is anticipated to premiere in 2025 as well.

In the upcoming series, Church will be featured alongside Steven Gerben, Gillis, Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias. For Season 2, the synopsis goes like this: “Following the unforeseen triumph of their innovative marketing concept, Will (Gerben) and Shane (Gillis) are in a hurry to advance on both a personal and professional level, failing to fully grasp the potential expenses associated with expanding their business.

In the upcoming series, Church is set to play the role of Phil, a character who is described as Shane’s affluent yet juvenile father. Reminiscent of Shane himself, Phil takes pleasure in managing multiple businesses in Florida and socializing over margaritas, often engaging with waitresses romantically.

Church has recently graced our TV screens on Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” series and HBO’s “Divorce.” However, his career took off early with a notable role in the show “Wings.” He earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor in the movie “Sideways,” and is famously recognized for his performances in films such as “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” “Max,” “Spider-Man 3,” and “Easy A.

He is repped by CAA, FINLEY Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

The second season of the show ‘Tires’ is set to air in 2025. This series was jointly created by Gillis, Gerben, and John McKeever. All three are serving as executive producers, with McKeever also taking on the role of director. Brandon James serves as an executive producer through Rough House, while Brian Stern and Kenneth Slotnick do so for AGI Entertainment Media & Management. Additionally, Astphan is involved, and Gillis and McKeever continue their roles as executive producers under Dad Sick Productions.
