A film about Miami quarterback Cam Ward is being produced by Firebrand Media. This movie is one installment of a 10-part series called “Zero Star,” which focuses on successful athletes who initially had no ranking or recognition, often referred to as “zero star” recruits.
Initially just a high school athlete with a single college offer in his pocket, Ward has since become the star quarterback at the University of Miami and is among the leading contenders for this year’s prestigious Heisman Trophy.
In the words of “Zero Star,” Ward expresses that being unnoticed was both a gift and a burden for him. The upside was that he had nothing left to risk, as he put it.
The docuseries consists of ten episodes, each highlighting a distinct “zero star” athlete. The first episode is dedicated to Ward, with an estimated running time of around 75 to 90 minutes. The remaining episodes currently in production will last between 45 and 50 minutes.
Firebrand Media, now working on “Zero Star” and set to be the distributor, is actively negotiating with various prominent current and retired NFL players, along with collegiate athletes, regarding the roles in the final nine episodes of the series.
Ward is signed under Firebrand’s Fifteen58 Sports Management vertical.
Patrice Ward, Cam’s mother, expressed that it was difficult to witness Cam face challenges as a young athlete, who often lacked belief in his abilities and potential from coaches and others. However, she emphasized that he has successfully disproved everyone’s doubts and will keep doing so for years to come. She is now glad that the world can finally recognize Cameron Ward for who he truly is – a shining star.
