Riot To Merge LoL SEA Servers With Patch 15.1

As a long-time League of Legends player from the Philippines, this news brings a wave of excitement and anticipation. For years, I’ve dealt with the frustration of laggy games due to server issues, but Riot’s decision to merge SEA servers seems like a game-changer (pun intended). The promise of faster matchmaking and improved latency has me ready to jump back into the Rift!

Riot Games is making a significant move to enhance the League of Legends gaming experience for Southeast Asian players. By combining the SEA servers, they aim to bring together communities from Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore/Malaysia, and Indonesia. This merger will result in improved gameplay, increased community interaction, and numerous additional benefits.

The merger takes effect starting from Patch 15.1 on January 9th, leading to quicker matchmaking times and smoother gameplay due to better latency. No need for adjustments on your end, as all Riot IDs, champions, skins, and progress on your accounts will be seamlessly transferred automatically.

We’re talking about a more competitive, exhilarating, and lucrative journey for you. A heartfelt thank you for being part of our gaming community, and we can hardly wait to meet you all on the Rift, unified under one server!

This merger is a significant leap for League of Legends players in India, as LCP (League of Legends Challenger Series) will introduce additional wild card spots into its Promotion and Relegation system.

Arun Rajappa, Country Manager at Riot Games India & SA, stated that the SEA server merge enables players to link with a broader, more varied group of opponents, thereby increasing their esports possibilities in expanding markets such as India.
