Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Had Biggest Launch-Period Player Total In Series' History

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has truly outdone itself. The numbers speak for themselves – it’s breaking records left and right, and it’s not even Christmas yet!

Activision has revealed additional information about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, highlighting the game’s widespread appeal, but they have not publicized any specific sales figures for it so far.

In a recent announcement, Activision stated that Black Ops 6 has set a new record as the largest Call of Duty game ever in terms of player numbers, hours played, and matches completed during its initial 30-day period. Previously, Activision had declared that Black Ops 6 shattered records for the same metrics within its first three days of release.

Fans are thanked by developer Treyarch and it’s announced that a bonus experience event for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will start on Wednesday, November 27, which is slightly ahead of the actual weekend. This early start is likely due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S., allowing players to jump in early and enjoy the double XP benefits.

Besides granting double experience points, Black Ops 6 will introduce fresh multiplayer game modes on November 27. The new options are Prop Hunt, a continuous Stakeout mode, and an intense Hardcore version of the Stakeout mode that runs 24/7.

Anticipation for large sales of Black Ops 6 was high before its release. The appeal of the Black Ops series is undeniable, and with its debut on Game Pass, it could attract a broader range of players. However, experts caution that it’s premature to fully grasp the influence of Black Ops 6’s arrival on Game Pass at this point.

The economic realities of Game Pass may never become clear, in part because Microsoft will not publicly share the terms of its deals with developers and publishers. At a higher level, Microsoft doesn’t even disclose Xbox console sales numbers anymore, as the company instead focuses on ambiguous “engagement” metrics that can be spun and positioned to Microsoft’s benefit.

In the United States, Black Ops 6 quickly climbed to become the top-selling video game of October 2024, and it currently ranks as the third highest-grossing game of 2024 overall, having been available for only a short time.
