Is PoE 2 Free? King of the Faridun and Other Supporter Packs Explained

As a seasoned gamer with a background in English Philology and Public Communication, I find myself deeply intrigued by Path of Exile 2’s impending arrival on December 6, 2024. Having followed its development over the years, I can’t help but feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, eagerly anticipating the unwrapping of this gaming gem.

Path of Exile 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to the widely popular PoE, is almost here. On December 6th at 11am PST, thousands of fans will finally get their hands on the game when it launches in early access. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding the Supporter Packs and the price of this new title. Since the first installment was free, is the second one as well? Let’s clarify that point.

Is PoE 2 Free to Play

From what’s stated on the Steam page, Path of Exile 2 can be played at no cost. However, it seems there’s some confusion due to the packs available in the store. While these require payment, they grant access to exclusive microtransactions and even physical items on higher tiers. Furthermore, by purchasing one of these packs, you’ll get Early Access to the game. Essentially, while the full game is free, you need to buy a package to play PoE 2 ahead of others.

As a passionate player of Path of Exile 2, I’m excited to share that if I’ve invested a total of $480 or more across my lifetime on any one platform, I become eligible to participate earlier. This applies not just to those who buy the Supporter pack, but also to individuals who have previously purchased top-tier supporter packs in PoE.

Developers intend to maintain the game in Early Access for an undetermined period, with a minimum of 6 months. If you’re eager to explore the Supporter Packs and don’t wish to wait that long, you can find all the necessary details and contents on the official website. Here are some of the rewards:
