New Naruto Comic Reveals Kakashi's Past, Which Masashi Kishimoto Didn't Predict

As a seasoned gamer and a connoisseur of both Naruto and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchises, I must admit that the recent crossover between these two iconic series has left me thrilled. The new comic, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto, takes us on an exciting adventure with Team 7 and our favorite turtle warriors.

Despite the Naruto manga concluding its storyline, the franchise remains vibrant and ever-expanding, with games, sequels like Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, or even a comic book crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In November, fans got to revisit Team 7’s early days under Kakashi’s leadership in a comic book adventure.

As a die-hard gamer, I’d put it like this: In an exhilarating new journey, I find myself as young Naruto, joining forces with Sasuke and Sakura, unexpectedly teaming up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Together, we take on the formidable Foot Clan, blending our unique ninja skills in an unforgettable battle for justice.

The newly released comic has no relation whatsoever to the Naruto lore; instead, it presents an alternate universe that fans might find intriguing as it offers a fresh perspective on familiar characters and settings. For example, discovering that Kakashi knew Splinter’s master in the past, whom he calls Hamato Yoshi, is just one of the unexpected revelations that can be found within this series.

For some “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” enthusiasts, it might be unexpected that Splinter is now referred to by this name, as they’re accustomed to his previous owner holding that title. However, it’s crucial to understand that in the revised “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” storyline (IDW reboot), Splinter and the turtles are actually reborn versions of Yoshi and his sons from 300 years ago, much like Indra and Ashura from “Naruto”. Fans have even proposed that the location where Yoshi and his sons resided 300 years ago could be Konoha, though these are merely their speculations. Perhaps future installments of the series will shed light on their past history.

It’s clear that Kakashi didn’t meet Hamato Yoshi 300 years ago, but from what Jonin said, it appears they knew each other in a different form. We can expect more details to emerge in the upcoming part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto, as the previous installment ended with that intriguing mystery.
