The co-founder stated that this choice has no connection to our company’s finances or budget. Instead, it’s a strategic step designed to sharpen our focus and prepare Sky Mavis for expansion in 2025 and beyond.

Trung emphasized that recent cryptocurrency-favorable regulations might spark a surge of creativity in Web3 initiatives, similar to the groundbreaking phase in 2018 when the company unveiled Axie Infinity.

Initially, Sky Mavis prioritized improving the Ronin Wallet, building the Mavis Marketplace, broadening the reach of the Ronin blockchain for additional developers, and launching fresh Web3 gaming projects.

Shifting Focus Amid Challenges

This innovative company catapulted into global prominence with Axie Infinity, a trailblazer in the play-to-earn (P2E) gaming landscape. To back Axie Infinity, the company constructed their own blockchain called Ronin. In the announcement, Trung referred to the protocol as one of the world’s busiest blockchains, with more than 1.1 million active addresses daily and over 10 million downloads of its Ronin Wallet app.
