It appears that both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have temporarily been barred from boxing following their match shown on Netflix. Yet, this suspension won’t persist indefinitely for either of them.
After several months of anticipation, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson finally faced each other in Dallas, Texas on November 15th. The ‘Problem Child’ emerged victorious with a unanimous decision over the 58-year-old Tyson, who had difficulty landing blows on his younger opponent.
It was a tough ask to get the 58-year-old into the ring in the first place. He admitted he “almost died” in the build-up and needed eight blood transfusions after losing “half” his blood due to an ulcer flare-up.
Due to the fact that they fought under professional boxing regulations, Jake and Mike are currently required to observe a medically mandated break from boxing, at least within the state of Texas.
According to MMAJunkie, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has imposed a 28-day suspension on the two fighters. This suspension equals three days for every round fought in their bout.
It’s clear that Jake’s plans won’t be disrupted greatly by the suspension, given that he’s spent months setting up fights following his debut in the ring. Moreover, it’s not likely that he will take on the role of a backup fighter for someone else in the next few weeks.
Jake additionally expressed disappointment towards Tyson, as he felt Tyson did not meet the performance standards he had pledged. “I wish he had given a stronger fight so I could have advanced further and accomplished more,” the former YouTuber-turned-boxer lamented following the fight’s end.
He also said that he “felt nothing” when ‘Iron’ Mike did manage to land a punch. “It didn’t hurt. He didn’t really land anything,” he told his brother Logan on ImPaulsive.
At his age of 58, it’s not likely he will fight again following his defeat. Therefore, the suspension won’t have a significant impact on him since he probably wouldn’t be fighting anyway.
