As a seasoned gamer who has navigated through countless algorithms and updates on various social media platforms, I must admit that the prospect of resetting my Instagram feed is like hitting the “reset” button on an old-school game console – a fresh start, a chance to conquer new territories, and hopefully avoid the pesky glitches that come with long-term use.
Should you find the content displayed on your Instagram Discover page unsatisfying, Meta has introduced an innovative update – the ability to refresh or restart your Discover page for a more tailored viewing experience.
If you’ve grown weary of the unpredictable posts appearing on your Instagram timeline, you’ll soon be able to press a “refresh” button for a “new beginning” or “restart”.
In November, Meta unveiled plans for a fresh feature which enables users to refresh their Instagram’s recommendation system. This empowers them to clear out suggestions appearing in Explore, Reels, and Feed.
As a gamer, I’m excited about the upcoming change where my Instagram feed gets a fresh start! The current system for suggesting posts and content is being revamped during testing. When this refreshing update rolls out, it’ll be like I’ve logged into a brand-new account, ready to explore new recommendations tailored just for me. Can’t wait to see what’s in store!
How to reset your Instagram feed
Currently, the Reset Suggested Content feature hasn’t been rolled out for use just yet. Facebook (Meta) has announced that it will be coming to a global audience soon, however, they have not specified an exact release date or timeframe.
Through Meta’s announcement, it is clear that the feature is accessible within the Content Preferences settings menu on Instagram. Here’s how you can find it:
- Open Instagram and go to your Instagram Profile.
- Tap the three-dash button to open the Instagram settings.
- Scroll the list of options and tap Content Preferences.
- Towards the bottom, you’ll find the Reset Suggested Content option. Tap it.
- You’ll get a warning of sorts that tells you what we have explained above. Read and press Next.
- Remove people and ad topics you don’t want/like anymore.
- Finally, tap the Reset Suggested Content.
Although the specific feature hasn’t been introduced just yet, you can effectively guide the Instagram algorithm by expressing your preferences for the type of content you enjoy or dislike viewing on your feed.
Here’s a suggestion for paraphrasing that content in a more conversational style: “Users can show their appreciation for the suggested content on their Explore page by simply tapping the three dots located at the post’s corner, then choosing ‘I’m Interested’.
Users can indicate dislike towards something by clicking “Not interested” within the three-dot menu, or they can use our “Hidden Words” function to conceal content that contains specific words or phrases within the description.
