As a long-time fan of Reba McEntire‘s work and a devotee of heartwarming sitcoms that strike a chord with audiences, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the news that “Happy’s Place” has been renewed for additional episodes. Growing up, I remember the comforting laughter and emotional connections that shows like these brought to my family during our weekly gatherings, and it seems “Happy’s Place” is poised to do the same.
The NBC comedy series “Happy’s Place” has received an order for additional episodes at NBC.
The initial run of the freshman multi-camera comedy has been expanded to include five additional episodes, making a grand total of 18 episodes. This series made its debut on October 18th at 8 p.m., airing on NBC. According to NBC, the premiere episode attracted 14 million viewers across all platforms since its launch. Compared to its original timeslot average, the show has seen a significant improvement among total viewers (a rise of 90%) and a notable increase (88%) in the key demographic of adults aged 18-49.
In the series, Reba McEntire acts alongside her co-stars Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn.
According to the given logline, “Bobbie McEntire learns from estate records that her father’s tavern is now hers. She’s taken aback to find out that she’s got a new business partner, Isabella Escobedo, who turns out to be her twenty-something half-sister, unknown to Bobbie until now.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I, alongside Kevin Abbott, co-created this extraordinary series, with the additional responsibility of serving as its writer and executive producer. Julie Abbott was also instrumental in its conception. The esteemed McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman all hold the title of executive producer on this project. It’s produced by Universal Television.
Among the new shows introduced by NBC this autumn are “Happy’s Place”, a comedy, the medical sitcom “St. Denis Medical”, and the medical drama “Brilliant Minds” featuring Zachary Quinto.
The show titled ‘Happy’s Place’ has earned positive feedback from critics, boasting a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. Aramide Tinubu, in her review for EbMaster, stated that despite only receiving two episodes ahead of time, so far the series is reminiscent, amusing, and sincere. The show features an assorted group of characters and incorporates McEntire’s distinctive wit into its humor. Set in Tennessee, this sitcom seems to be a crowd-pleaser that explores themes like family, friendship, and generational differences while echoing the rhythmic pace and tone of classic TV shows.
