Milhouse Voice Actor Retires From ‘The Simpsons’ After 35 Years

As a lifelong Simpsons fan and connoisseur of voice acting, I find myself reminiscing over the iconic characters that have graced our screens for three decades. And now, the bittersweet news that Pamela Hayden, the talented voice behind Milhouse, Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, and many more, is retiring after 35 years on the show.

Actress Pamela Hayden, known for her voices as Milhouse and numerous other characters in “The Simpsons”, has decided to step down from the series following a 35-year run.

Her last episode is titled “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wickedly This Approaches,” and it’s scheduled to air on November 24th.

I had the privilege of lending my voice to a host of characters in The Simpsons, including Milhouse Van Houten, Bart’s blue-haired confidant; Jimbo Jones, the schoolyard bully; Rod and sometimes Todd, Ned Flanders’ sons; Sarah, Chief Wiggum’s wife; and even Lisa’s friend, Janey Powell. It was a delight to be part of such an iconic show!

Ever since the debut of “The Simpsons” back in 1989, I’ve been a staple character in this iconic animated series, appearing in no less than 694 episodes as per IMDb. Now, it’s time for Fox to start auditions for my roles.

In a video she shared announcing her retirement, Hayden said, “Folks often bring up lines from Milhouse to me. People always comment on how nerdy he is. Yet, there’s something about Milhouse that I admire – no matter how many times he gets knocked down, he always gets back up. I have a soft spot for this underdog.

The video featured old interview clips of Hayden, where she described her “Simpsons” voice acting role as “the best job I’ve ever had.

Beyond the limelight of my current role, I’ve had the pleasure of lending my voice to some fascinating projects. In 2007, you might have heard me in “The Simpsons Movie,” or perhaps in “Lloyd in Space” and “Pound Puppies.” Additionally, I’ve voiced characters across different versions of “The Simpsons” video games, including “Lego Dimensions” and the adventurous world of “Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly.

Right now, “The Simpsons” is being aired on Fox during its 36th season. Here’s the video of Hayden’s retirement announcement: [insert link]
