Players Believe Bastion’s Tank Form Ultimate Should Replace His Current One in OW2
If you haven’t experienced it yet, the Classic mode variant of Bastion offers a nostalgic take on the character, featuring elements such as his Turret form that keeps him stationary, self-healing capabilities, and, at present, his Tank form ultimate. It appears that a significant number of players find this version of the ultimate more appealing than his Artillery mode ultimate in Overwatch 2’s current setup.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but voice my opinion that during live play, Bastion could greatly benefit from the reintroduction of tank mode for his ultimate ability. This transformation would undeniably make the game more exciting, engaging, and a better showcase of strategic skill. Unfortunately, the current artillery mode falls short, offering nothing particularly redeeming or interesting in terms of gameplay, often feeling dull and monotonous as an ultimate ability.

On X (previously Twitter), numerous gamers, including well-known Overwatch 2 broadcasters, have expressed their views that Bastion’s present ultimate is unexciting and lacks the enjoyment or strategic complexity of his Tank form from the original version. As Twitch streamer Bogur put it, “His current ult is just SO DULL. I can’t understand why they believed it was a smart move to swap tank form with it.
These sentiments were echoed by commentator AVRL, who suggested that Bastion should get his Tank form back in Overwatch 2. “Bastion on live should have tank mode back. A far more interesting, fun, and skill-expressive ult. There’s nothing redeemable about artillery. It’s just an uninteresting, boring ultimate,” he said.
