The newly elected President, Donald Trump, has proposed that TV personality, Dr. Mehmet Oz, takes on the role of head at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Dr. Oz serves as a cardiothoracic surgeon professor emeritus at Columbia University, and he hosted “The Dr. Oz Show” from 2009 to 2022. This daytime talk show covered topics like health, wellness, and on occasion, true crime. It was jointly produced by Harpo Studios, owned by Oprah Winfrey. Throughout his career, Dr. Oz has faced criticism from the medical community due to his endorsement of pseudoscience, homeopathy, and alternative treatments.
The TV show “Dr. Oz” concluded in 2022 following Dr. Oz’s bid for Pennsylvania’s Senate position as a Republican. However, he was defeated by Sen. John Fetterman. Interestingly, this nomination came shortly after Donald Trump appointed Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is known to question the effectiveness of vaccines, as potential head of Health and Human Services. Previously, Kennedy Jr.’s views on vaccine efficacy had been criticized during his appearance on “The Dr. Oz Show.
