NBCUniversal-Backed TV Crime Drama ‘Rubber Faced Men’ Tops 2024 Brit List

As a seasoned reader and enthusiast of new literary works, I must say that the list of potential screenplays presented here is nothing short of intriguing! Each title seems to offer a unique blend of genres and themes, promising a captivating viewing experience for audiences.

The selection of scripts for the 2024 Brit List, which mirrors the U.S.’s Black List, has been disclosed. An ’80s-themed crime series produced by NBCUniversal stands out as the top pick in this lineup.

This year’s edition marks the 16th time that the list has been compiled, taking into account suggestions from various British entities such as production companies, talent agencies, sales firms, financiers, distributors, and broadcasters. Starting in 2020, it began including both film and television scripts. To make this year’s cut, at least 10 recommendations were required. In total, 13 scripts made it onto the 2024 list.

Alexandra Arlango, the founder and director of The Brit List, has been delighted to observe the impressive achievements of previous Brit List alumni during the past year. For example, Chris Andrews, who had a script on The Brit List in 2018 titled ‘Shepherd,’ later received a nomination for the British Independent Film Awards for his work ‘Bring Them Down.’ Another remarkable success story is that of Karla Marie Sweet, who was a writer on last year’s Brit List and partnered with our sponsor Audible to publish her book ‘Another Life’ as an Audible Original in September.

In contrast to previous years, this current year sees a higher percentage of The Brit List scripts being feature films – about 40%. This is more than any other year since the platform started catering to both television and film. This trend, which began last year, indicates a growth in the number of successful feature scripts.
