As a die-hard fan of Remedy Entertainment, who’s spent countless hours immersed in their unique and captivating worlds, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the news of Control 2! The announcement that this upcoming title will be an action-RPG has me intrigued. While it might not stray too far from the formula of the first game, the promise of deeper player agency, exploration, and RPG mechanics has me eagerly anticipating what’s to come.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the sequel to the chilling game developed by Remedy Entertainment, titled Control 2, will be an action-RPG experience. This exciting news was dropped during Remedy’s Capital Market day on November 19, along with details about Control’s upcoming Mac support and a free update.
In simpler terms, when you think of an Action-RPG, it might bring up games similar to Diablo. However, Remedy’s approach in creating Control 2 doesn’t seem like a significant departure from the original game’s formula. In response to TopMob, the developer clarified that Control 2 is a natural progression of the first game, emphasizing on storytelling and grandeur, while enhancing player control, exploration, and role-playing elements.
In another part of the investor video, Remedy mentioned that the sequel is being designed to attract a broader range of players, without providing specifics about how this affects the game. Furthermore, Control is scheduled to receive a complimentary update in early 2025, which will grant access to certain content that has been previously released.
The content that was recently published might relate to several unique and premium DLC costumes – such as the Extradimensional Suit from the AWE expansion pack, the Tactical Response suit offered as a pre-order incentive, the Astral Dive Suit given on launch day for PS4, and the Urban Response outfit bundled with the Control Digital Deluxe edition for PS4.
To sum up, Control Ultimate Edition will debut on Mac on February 12, 2025. Although we don’t know when the sequel will be released, the multiplayer spin-off, FBC Firebreak, should help pass the time until it comes out next year. For a sneak peek at the sequel, take a look at Alan Wake 2: The Lake House DLC, an extra chapter you won’t want to miss.
