As an avid follower of the dynamic world of Bollywood and global cinema, I find myself absolutely thrilled at the prospect of Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, making his directorial debut with an upcoming series on Netflix. The synopsis of this untitled project, which promises a high-energy, humorous exploration of the glamourous yet treacherous world of Indian cinema, has me genuinely intrigued.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’m joining forces with Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan and his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, for an exciting, yet-to-be-named series. This project will be the remarkable directorial debut of none other than SRK’s son, Aryan Khan. The series was officially presented during Netflix’s International Showcase event on Monday.
In the vibrant setting of the film industry, this mixed-genre show offers a daring, uncensored journey filled with amusement as it follows a charismatic newcomer’s struggles and triumphs within the glamorous yet treacherous realm of Bollywood. By combining intense storytelling with self-deprecating humor, the series boasts big-name appearances and larger-than-life characters for an irreverent, humorous perspective on Indian cinema.
Shah Rukh Khan expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming Netflix series they are introducing, which offers a fresh perspective on the glamorous movie industry and the journey to success as an outsider. He explained that this compelling story is created by Aryan, numerous dedicated minds, and the team at Red Chillies Entertainment. This production promises to be filled with emotion, hard work, and plenty of enjoyment.
2025 will see the unveiling of another collaboration between Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment, being my sixth venture with them. Following titles like “Darlings,” “Bhakshak,” “Class of ’83,” “Betaal,” and “Bard of Blood,” I eagerly anticipate this upcoming series.
Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, expressed her excitement about collaborating with Red Chillies Entertainment once more. This collaboration is particularly unique as it involves a series directed by Aryan Khan. Aryan’s directorial approach is daring and energetic, resulting in a truly unique and engaging piece. This project aligns with our mutual interest in showcasing fresh talent and compelling narratives. We can hardly wait for our subscribers to enjoy it!
At a recent event, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, mentioned that there’s an increasing interest in non-English programming, even in countries like the U.S., where viewers typically favor domestic American stories. Last year, approximately 13% of viewing time in the U.S. was spent on non-English titles, with Korean, Spanish, and Japanese series and films being the most popular among audiences, according to Bajaria.
The following are some Asian films showcased at the event: “Physical 100: Asia” from Korea, “Bullet Train Explosion” from Japan, “All the Love You Wish For” and “Revelations” from Korea, as well as “Last Samurai Standing” and “When Life Gives You Tangerines” from Japan.
At the event, we showcased the upcoming seasons of several Asian series, such as “Alice in Borderland” from Japan (Season 3), “Delhi Crime” from India (Season 3), “The Exchange” from Kuwait (Season 2), “Heeramandi” from India (Season 2), “Rana Naidu” from India (Season 2), and “Squid Game” from Korea (Season 2).
