Best AS VAL Warzone loadout: Class setup, attachments, perks

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent traversing digital battlefields, I can wholeheartedly vouch for the versatility and charm of the AS VAL in Warzone Season 1. This weapon, while not dominating the scene like it does in Black Ops 6 multiplayer, certainly holds its own in the Battle Royale’s meta.

In Warzone, the AS VAL isn’t as dominant as it is in Black Ops 6 multiplayer, yet it remains useful within the game’s Season 1 strategy for assault rifles.

Over the course of its existence, Warzone has seen numerous Assault Rifles (ARs) that struggle in terms of speed when it comes to killing enemies compared to Submachine Guns (SMGs), yet they lack the extended damage range needed to challenge longer-range weapon types dominating the current meta.

Occasionally, certain types of weapons may go out of fashion. Yet, it’s possible they could prove useful as backup for snipers. This is because, when employing a sniper rifle, you prefer a flexible secondary weapon that can handle combat effectively at any range.

In Warzone Season 1, that’s exactly what the AS VAL is designed for. This rapid-fire assault rifle excels at multiple tasks effectively.

Best Warzone AS VAL loadout

  • Barrel: Suppressed Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Grip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag II
  • Rear Grip: Commando Grip
  • Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

Despite Raven Software enhancing the AS VAL’s magazine size from 20 rounds in multiplayer to 30 rounds in Warzone, the weapon still struggles to provide enough ammunition for engaging multiple enemies at once. Thus, it’s advisable to use an Extended Mag II as a solution to this problem.

And despite the AS VAL dishing out loads of damage, the AR suffers from an incredibly difficult-to-control recoil pattern. The Vertical Grip significantly improves horizontal recoil while the Recoil Springs helps reduce vertical and horizontal recoil.

To ensure our loadout keeps pace with Submachine Guns, the Commando Grip enhances your sprinting speed and reduces the time needed to aim down sights. Lastly, the Suppressed Reinforced Barrel offers a better chance against long-range dominant weapons by boosting bullet velocity and damage range.

Best Perks, Equipment & Combat Specialty for AS VAL

  • Perk 1: Dexterity
  • Perk 2: Quick Fix
  • Perk 3: Tempered
  • Wildcard: Overkill
  • Lethal: Throwing Knife
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade

Mastering agility against your adversaries is vital in Warzone, and you’ll benefit significantly from a more gradual Assault Rifle setup. This is why choosing Dexterity as your first Perk could be the key to success; it minimizes weapon sway while sliding, diving, and jumping, and decreases fall damage as well.

In this situation, since Perk 2 doesn’t have many captivating choices, it makes sense to go with Quick Fix, as it initiates health recovery after inserting a plate or achieving elimination. Notably, you can also fire your weapon in a hip-fire position while wearing a plate, which could potentially save you multiple times.

Sprinter is often chosen due to its ability for continuous tactical sprints. However, this can be misleading. A tactical sprint can be maintained indefinitely using the dedicated melee weapon, implying that this perk will only prove beneficial when playing aggressively, with no time to draw your weapon before engaging in combat.

Instead of Perk 3, however, presents a challenging decision. While Ghost, Gung-Ho, Birdseye, and Alertness might seem the obvious picks, we opted for Tempered, as it enables you to attain maximum armor with just two plates rather than three.

As a fan, I opted for Throwing Knives to dispatch fallen opponents, while Frag Grenades were an alternative consideration. Lastly, Smoke Grenades came in handy during our cross-country movements through open spaces or when fleeing adversaries, offering much-needed concealment.

Where is the AS VAL in the Warzone meta?

In Black Ops 6, the AS VAL and AK-74 boast the fastest time-to-kill speeds among ARs up to approximately 37 meters. However, their poor accuracy limits their effectiveness, yet it’s surprising that the AS VAL ranks as the 17th most popular weapon according to WZRanked.

Should you grow accustomed to its kickback, few ARs surpass the AS VAL in performance, particularly on Map 99. The weapon excels there due to the compact nature of the map. In our opinion, it’s an ideal choice for a sniper support role during Season 1.

How to unlock AS VAL in Black Ops 6

To gain access to the AS VAL, you’ll need to progress to level 55. This is one of the final weapons you can acquire before prestiging. Fortunately, your Double XP tokens from Modern Warfare 2 and 3 are transferable in Warzone, which will make achieving this level smoother.

Black Ops 6 AS VAL alternatives

As a gamer, I’ve found that if the AS VAL doesn’t tick all the boxes for what I’m looking for in an AR, the AMES 85 is a sleeper hit that’s been overlooked. It’s definitely worth giving it some extra attention. Furthermore, many players argue that the GPR 91 is the top dog when it comes to ARs in Warzone, and I have to agree with them.
