The FOB Sushi Bar is currently closed “indefinitely” following the incident where Keith Lee admitted to consuming what appeared to be a worm while conducting a restaurant review.
On the 10th of November, Keith Lee shared a video where he tried out the dishes at FOB Sushi Bar, located in Seattle, Washington.
In the video, a piece of salmon he was examining seemed to twitch by itself when he presented it on camera, causing some viewers alarm and discomfort, as they speculated that the well-known TikToker might have accidentally consumed a worm.
The FOB Sushi Bar explained the incident, stating that the meat might have shifted as a result of the force applied by Keith while using his chopsticks.
At FOB Sushi, it’s our priority to maintain top-notch hygiene, freshness, and safety in all our offerings, ensuring a clean, fresh, and secure dining experience for each of our valued customers.
Concerning the video, the fish’s movements could be due to its inherent flexibility or being manipulated by the pressure of chopsticks on its body.
Following rumors about the supposed “worm” spreading on TikTok, Keith Lee posted a video expressing his opinions and mentioning an individual who reportedly visited the same restaurant as him the day after, and subsequently fell ill after consuming the food there.
He made this video because he recently watched another person’s video who went after us, and they’re now in the hospital. He emphasized that it’s all about him, his personality, and his character. Before concluding, he expressed his emotions by saying he would address the matter, and then sent his well-wishes and good wishes to the affected individual.
Later, Keith responded to FOB’s opening remark by emphasizing the need for greater responsibility from the restaurant during the discussion.
If someone finds something moving in their hospital food, I firmly believe there needs to be accountability. A restaurant explaining that the way I held my chopsticks caused the sushi to move is a view I strongly disagree with. [He] expressed this sentiment.
I’ve eaten sushi a thousand times in various ways, but I’ve never encountered anything like what happened recently. I’m not suggesting it was a pest or parasite, I’m simply stating that whatever it was, it wasn’t due to anything on my part as a consumer. As a customer, I shouldn’t be held responsible if there were unforeseen issues.
Keith emphasized again his understanding of the potential risks associated with consuming sushi and other uncooked dishes, but reassured everyone that he’s been fine since the assessment was conducted.
Immediately following the upload of Keith’s video on his account, it was announced by FOB Sushi Bar via Instagram that they would be shutting down two of their branches due to “recent issues related to food safety.
Due to recent worries about food safety, we’ve chosen to temporarily shut down our FOB Sushi outlets in Seattle and Bellevue. Your wellbeing and security are our top concerns. We’re conducting a comprehensive investigation to resolve the issue and will implement every necessary step to ensure it doesn’t happen again in the future.

Keith hasn’t responded to the news of the restaurant’s temporary closure.
On another occasion, a restaurant found itself issuing a statement after receiving criticism from Keith Lee in one of his reviews. Back in June, he publicly criticized the subpar service at a Louisiana eatery, leading them to address the situation.
