Activision Addresses Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 2XP Token Issue After Fan Outcry

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the recent turn of events with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has left me somewhat perplexed. The excitement that surged through the gaming community when we learned about the double XP tokens from Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Warzone was palpable. However, just as quickly as the joy came, it was snatched away.

Recently in this month, gamers of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 were thrilled with the Season 1 update as it introduced double XP tokens from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Warzone. But just about when these tokens became available in-game, they were unexpectedly removed. In reaction to the strong protests from fans, Treyarch, the developers behind Black Ops 6 (and a division of Activision), have clarified their reasons for taking out the tokens and given an estimate on when they might reappear.

Treyarch recently disclosed information on X, explaining that using legacy XP tokens unintentionally brought up a glitch which might have affected the game’s stability. They are now working hard to reintegrate this feature without causing further issues in the game. The studio plans to provide another update about this matter next week.

Starting from Season 1, a UI glitch enabled gamers to use legacy XP tokens in Black Ops 6. However, this issue also posed a risk to the game’s stability, which is why it was fixed yesterday. We understand how valuable it is for players to redeem legacy items.

For the time being, there’s a temporary fix available. Players are still able to utilize their legacy XP tokens in Warzone. These tokens will continue to function if they move to Black Ops 6 within the specified period. While this isn’t a perfect solution, it should serve as a stopgap measure for now.

Despite a potential initial disadvantage, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has smashed engagement records and, surprisingly, not being available on Game Pass on its first day doesn’t seem to have affected it negatively at all. In fact, Black Ops 6 seems to have demonstrated yet again that the Call of Duty series surpasses any individual gaming platform or computer.
