Black Ops 6 hackers destined for huge win after Ranked crossplay change

As a seasoned Call of Duty player with countless hours logged on consoles, I must admit that the recent announcement regarding Black Ops 6‘s Ranked Play modes has left me feeling a bit uneasy. For years, I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie of crossplay with my PC-using friends, but the prospect of being matched against potential hackers in ranked modes is a concern that many console players share.

It’s been made clear that Black Ops 6 won’t offer an option for players to disable cross-platform play in Ranked matches. This means console and PC gamers will be paired up, which has left many console players feeling frustrated.

For quite some time, Call of Duty has supported crossplay, enabling friends to engage in gameplay together irrespective of the gaming platform they’re using.

Over the course of time, some individuals have chosen to disable crossplay for various reasons, as it has become quite widely used.

In many cases, this issue arises because console gamers prefer avoiding encounters with PC hackers, a concern that becomes more significant in ranked games and among higher-level players, where the hackers tend to dominate.

In the era of Modern Warfare 3, numerous PC gamers opted for consoles as a means of escaping hackers, especially during multiplayer and ranked Warzone games. However, that choice is no longer viable.

It was reported on November 17, a few days before the release of Ranked Play in Black Ops 6, that there would be no option for players to disable crossplay within the game.

The setting is greyed out and comes with a warning that says “Always enabled in Ranked Play. Cannot be changed in lobbies or during game.”

Typically, Ranked Play modes are introduced at a later stage in the game’s development, sometimes even during the new year. This addition serves to reinvigorate the game when the initial excitement from the launch has started to wane.

Additionally, it implies that top-tier gamers are less likely to exhaust from continuous domination by hackers. However, if these issues arise swiftly following the Season 1 debut and without crossplay options, there could be a significant outcry directed towards developers Treyarch as events unfold.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that an option seems restricted in Ranked Play, and I’m curious about the reasoning behind this limitation. I can’t help but wonder if Treyarch has any plans to modify this in future updates. Keep this in mind as you dive into your first game.
