As a seasoned cinephile who has witnessed the dynamic evolution of Hollywood over the past few decades, I must say that this merger between SpringHill Company and Fulwell 73 is nothing short of a game-changer. The combined forces of these two powerhouses are poised to create content that will captivate audiences across various platforms and territories.


SpringHill Company and Fulwell 73 are coming together through an equal partnership merger, with the combined entity aiming to become more prominent in various sectors such as television, movies, live events, branded content, advertisements, and consumer goods.

Under a unified entity, SpringHill (the production label led by LeBron James and Maverick Carter) is merging with Fulwell 73, the company established approximately two decades ago in the U.K. by Ben Winston, Leo Pearlman, James Corden, Ben Turner, and Gabe Turner. The combined organization will maintain offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Sunderland, U.K.

Carter and Pearlman, both located in Sunderland, have been appointed as joint CEOs. It’s anticipated that the transaction will be finalized before the end of the year.

SpringHill Entertainment has been keeping quite active, producing an array of documentaries, sports-themed unscripted content, as well as “The Shop,” an HBO series hosted by James and Carter where they discuss sports, music, pop culture, and more with celebrity friends in a barber shop setting. Currently, SpringHill is engaged in various projects such as a docuseries about USC women’s basketball star JuJu Watkins (“On the Rise: JuJu Watkins”), the holiday special “A Motown Christmas” for NBC and Peacock, NBA docuseries “Starting 5,” scripted movies like “Rez Ball” and the Adam Sandler film “Hustle.” Recently, they signed a deal with Mediawan from France to develop film and TV projects for both U.S. and international markets.

Fulwell 73 is recognized for creating live events such as the recent Grammy Awards broadcasts on CBS, the LA segment of the Paris-to-Los Angeles Summer Olympic games handover in August, and the reality series “The Kardashians” on Hulu. They also produced the special concert event “Adele: One Night Only” for CBS in 2021 and Elton John’s farewell tour performance live stream on Disney+ from Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium in 2022. Among their documentary projects are “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All” for Disney+ and the soccer docuseries “Sunderland ‘Til I Die” for Netflix. Fulwell 73 is also planning to start construction on a film and TV production facility in Sunderland, named CrownWorks Studio.

Instead, all shareholders of the yet-unnamed entity have pledged a collective $40 million to fuel the growth of this expanded venture. The impressive list of investors includes Fenway Sports Group, RedBird Capital Partners, UC Investments, Nike, Epic Games, and Main Street Advisors – all of whom have supported SpringHill since its inception in 2020. This substantial investment is set to propel the company towards new heights, making it an exciting venture to watch unfold!

Eldridge Industries, a business associate of EbMaster’s parent company PMC, serves as the lone external investor in Fulwell 73 and intends to remain part of the revamped organization. In 2021, SpringHill received an estimated valuation of $725 million upon receiving capital investment from RedBird.

Since Fulwell 73 came to the U.S. with Corden in 2015 to produce CBS’ “The Late Late Show,” they’ve been quite busy. However, Winston, who is based in LA, realized that despite Fulwell 73’s impressive track record, there was a need for them to expand their methods when it comes to creating, producing, and distributing content, aiming for greater diversity.

Winston expressed that he didn’t want our organization to remain stagnant and simply transform into a production company with an increasing focus on service provision. Instead, he envisioned us as a production house available for hire. He acknowledged that it is extremely challenging and the standards have significantly risen in the streaming-centric world we find ourselves in today.

The achievement of SpringHill’s brand consulting firm, Robot, based in New York, caught the attention of Fulwell 73 partners. They were also impressed by SpringHill’s sophisticated business strategies and management of long-term rights to their Intellectual Property. He notes the example of “The Shop,” an unscripted series hosted and produced by James and Carter for HBO since 2018, as a point of comparison to Fulwell’s experience in launching the popular “Carpool Karaoke” format, which was initially a segment on CBS’ “Late Late Show.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve taken notice of SpringHill and their influence in the branding sphere. I’ve scrutinized their commercial production agency, Robot, and the shows they’ve produced, such as ‘The Shop,’ which first aired on Max and then transitioned to YouTube, where they retain the rights. They own the IP. Various brands play significant roles in that show, and now, these partnerships have led to an array of products available at Walmart. Upon reflection, they discovered that their companies’ skill sets were mutually beneficial, and they both stood to gain from expanding their income sources through diversification.

Carter expressed to EbMaster that he appreciates Fulwell’s proficiency in organizing big live events like concert specials, as well as his expertise in handling unscripted TV series such as “Carpool Karaoke.” The heads of both companies possess the influential connections needed to succeed and demand high prices for sought-after entertainment and media ventures.
