The sinister reason the Jayce twist in Arcane Season 2 Part 2 had to happen

As a dedicated fan of Arcane with a deep appreciation for the intricacies of its narrative, I must express my excitement and fascination towards the emerging theory surrounding Jayce’s actions against Viktor and his followers.

Following the rescue of his partner with Hexcore, one could find themselves pondering: Why did Jayce take Viktor’s life in Arcane Season 2 Part 2? – A question that might have a darker motive than previously assumed.

Until the conclusion of the second and last season (Episode 6) of the League of Legends series, Jayce found himself trapped within a magical distortion, causing him to travel through a different dimension. During this ordeal, his Hextech crystal bonded permanently to his wrist.

As for me, I’ve been diligently nursing the Shimmer-scarred denizens of Zaun’s subterranean city back to health, transforming its once gloomy streets into a radiant, enchanted haven. Yet, Singed/Dr. Reveck cautions me, “Should you meet your end, this community won’t be far behind.

In Arcane Season 2 Episode 6, we witness a chilling sequence of events unfold as Jayce exits the anomaly, making his way towards the commune. Driven by his corrupted state, he employs his tainted hammer to take the lives of Viktor and eventually, his followers.

Arcane Season 2 theory explains why Jayce killed Viktor

Although it might seem Jayce has simply lost his mind, a new theory has emerged and it makes a lot of sense: what if Viktor and his followers were nothing more than empty shells, having been taken over by Hextech?

If that’s the case, Jayce is just taking care of business, eliminating the root cause before it expands and dominates humanity. Let’s examine the facts now.

As Jayce, Ekko, and Heimerdinger make their way to the Hextech base, their breath fogs up, hinting at the chill in the air. Likewise, in Episode 5, condensation is noticeable as it forms on Jayce’s breath when he breaks through the arcane to locate Salo.

In a different manner, Salo, who has been treated by Viktor, does not fog up when speaking. Is it possible that he’s ceased to be human… ceased to be Salo?

At the start of Arcane Season 2, Viktor stirs awake with the Hexcore integrated, and Jayce gives him a warm embrace, unaware that Viktor is naked. Quickly, Jayce hurries to fetch a robe for him, expressing concern about his chill.

However, Viktor maintains that he isn’t [the one], expressing it as, “I perceive a force, a drive, a repetitive urge. It’s unpleasant, yet ‘cold’ is not the right term for it.

At first, Jayce didn’t give it much thought. However, following his encounter with the anomaly, there’s a possibility that he might have stumbled upon some shocking revelations concerning Hextech.

It’s clear that everyone who has been healed by Viktor and now bears a pearly handprint on their face is linked in some way. This connection might not stem from pure altruism on his part, but rather an inherent quality of the Hextech, which seems to have a self-replicating or reinforcing nature.

Upon Jayce’s return to the tangible world, Viktor briefly speaks to him via Salo’s form. Once Salo regains control, Jayce declares, “Hextech is not a blessing; it’s a curse,” before ending Salo’s life with his hammer.

After that, he promptly makes his way to the commune. There, he murders Viktor, a man whose magic had previously healed many. In retaliation, Viktor slays everyone who had benefited from his healing abilities.

According to Viktor’s final utterances, “Now I see it. The concealed meaning within the design. The cause behind our shortcomings in the community.

Indeed, the doctor is correct. Fundamentally, we humans are a complex mix. Our core identity encompasses feelings such as anger, empathy, and even hate – these intense emotions often appearing to be two different sides yet deeply intertwined within us.

It’s often thought that Jayce may be delusional, yet it could be their greatest error to overlook this possibility: within the commune, they strived to surpass what truly defined them as human.

It’s possible that Jayce stumbled upon a chilling revelation about the arcane – that Hextech was twisting not just the physical beings but also their thoughts and spirits, which forced him into a difficult decision: to annihilate it.

Was Viktor’s commune a Hextech hive mind?

This theory was put forward on Reddit, where Viktor’s followers were compared to body snatchers.

Just now, I experienced a chill while re-watching Episode 5, as a detail caught my attention: whenever Jayce talks in the frosty chamber, his breath appears in the cold air.

Returning promptly to the memorable encounter between Ekko, Jayce, and Heimer in Act 1, I was struck once more by an intriguing detail: each of their breaths and spoken words are illuminated within the Hextech chamber, as if infused with a subtle, ethereal glow.

Only a non-living doll, resembling Salo and imitating human behavior, doesn’t share the same qualities as a real person. It can’t fully mimic a human because it lacks the ability to truly emulate life.

Indeed, Jayce acted correctly in eliminating Salo and dismantling their commune. In truth, they were unwittingly serving as hosts for a network of sleeper agents or puppets, controlled by some greater force that requires neutralization. To put it bluntly, they were little more than the living dead under someone else’s control.

Many people felt that there was an issue with the commune, as one person put it, “The smudges on their faces seem a bit off as well, chuckling.

After Huck recovered, I initially assumed it was just an extension of his scars from the shimmer, but upon observing all the commune members, it’s clear that it’s Victor’s fingerprints left behind when he interacted with them. There’s definitely something suspicious about that cult.

Regarding future events, it’s speculated that the upcoming scene will reveal Jayce’s true intentions. So far, we’ve seen ‘flashback’ lines suggesting he won’t falter, but those scenes have not been displayed to us yet.

It appears Jayce has a significant purpose due to his experiences with the Arcane. He seems destined to undertake a mission, possibly for Ekko and Heim. The creators of the show are strategically portraying Jayce in an unusual manner, making him seem unhinged, so that we may initially dislike him before they reveal his true intentions.

As a thrilled fan myself, I’m excitedly sharing that the third part of Arcane Season 2 will be streaming on Netflix starting November 23!
