As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the anticipation for Marvel Rivals is at an all-time high! The Developer Vision video has given us some tantalizing insights into what we can expect when this superhero team-based PvP shooter drops on consoles and PCs in December 2024.
NetEase Games, developers of Marvel Rivals, have shared details about what players can expect when the game launches globally in December 2024. These insights were given in a Developer Vision video, available online and led by Creative Director Guangguang, who explained that they are now approaching the final stages, referring to it as being “in the home stretch.
Apart from discussing essential aspects, he provided recent information on several fundamental elements, operations, and structures that have raised questions or require more explanation prior to the game’s debut. In addition, we have now clarified the number of playable characters that will be available at the game’s release and the content players can anticipate from the very start of the launch season.
Marvel Rivals, set to debut on consoles and PCs starting December 6th, 2024, will kick off its launch day season, or Season 0 as the developers label it. This season officially commences on that date and offers players access to 33 heroes for this specific season. As of now, only 27 characters have been unveiled, with Moon Knight being the latest addition, while six more heroes are still under wraps and yet to be disclosed.

The revelation about the unannounced six heroes has sparked some uncertainty among players due to the approaching launch date (only a few weeks away), as Hawkeye was hinted in the Moon Knight gameplay trailer. Since further clarification is expected, the confusion persists, leaving more questions unanswered. We’ll update this page when definitive information becomes available.
As a fervent admirer, let me share with you some exciting details about our upcoming game schedule. Kicking things off on launch day is Season 0, aptly named “Doom’s Rise.” This season invites players to join the fray and “fuel the fight!” Narratively, this season revolves around the chaos unleashed by Doctor Doom’s time experiments, leading to the creation of four distinct Chronoverses:
In this game, the storyline intertwines multiple timelines, blending together futures, pasts, and alternate realities. This means that the narrative progresses in each match a player engages in, continuing the overarching storyline. The season, as confirmed by the creative director, is set to last for an entire month, with an estimated end date of 6th January 2025. During this time, players will have access to eight Quick Match maps and various Competitive Modes, one Conquest map, and an upgraded Practice Range to try out the characters.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about Season 1, where we’ll encounter more heroes, maps, and fresh seasonal content, as per the game’s creative director. This new season is set to establish the groundwork for future seasons. And here’s an exciting tidbit: each Marvel Rivals season, starting from this one, is projected to last approximately every three months. That means regular patch updates and hotfixes will be rolling out frequently and consistently, ensuring a well-balanced gaming experience.
Concerning the game’s monetization strategy, server setup, and language support, it has been confirmed that all heroes will be free-to-play (F2P) at launch and in the future. Additionally, the game will feature a Battle Pass option, primarily offering new costumes and other cosmetic items for players to advance and acquire these items. However, the Season 0 Battle Pass will be priced appropriately, containing only half the content as it lasts for just one month.
The game’s store will regularly get refreshed and updated, offering a variety of costumes and cosmetic items. These items are inspired by the characters’ comic book looks and appearances, designs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and those that align with the evolving storyline within the game. On the technical side, the developer aims to maintain its usual “60 server tick rate” and expand it further by establishing additional servers in various regions and territories. This will enhance the gaming experience for Marvel Rivals players by providing the Server Selection tool, allowing them to choose a server with lower ping rates and faster matchmaking.
Ultimately, the game will debut with multilingual support, offering full voiceovers in English, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese, along with text translation for 16 languages. According to its Steam Page, the confirmed language options encompass English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (European/Peninsular), Russian, Turkish, Thai, Spanish (Latin American), Korean, Japanese, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
