Donald Trump Picks Brendan Carr to Lead FCC

As a long-time follower of the FCC and its crucial role in shaping our nation’s communication landscape, I am thrilled to see Brendan Carr step into the chairmanship role. With his extensive background at the agency, including serving as general counsel and now as the senior Republican, he brings a wealth of experience that will undoubtedly serve us all well.

Donald Trump, who is set to become President, has chosen Brendan Carr for the role of chairperson at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

As a fervent supporter, I’d like to highlight that I am particularly impressed by Ajit Pai, currently the senior Republican on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Before his current role, he served as the agency’s general counsel. Intriguingly, it was under President Trump’s administration that I first saw Ajit nominated to the FCC back in 2017.

Commissioner Carr is a champion for free speech, battling against the excessive regulations that have restricted Americans’ liberties and hindered our economy,” Trump stated on Sunday. “He will halt the overbearing regulation that has been hampering America’s business leaders and innovators, and make sure that the FCC serves the needs of rural communities.

In the 2024 presidential election, Carr spoke out against Vice President Kamala Harris’s unexpected November 2 guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” He argued in a post on X that this move was an obvious attempt to circumvent the FCC’s Equal Time rule.

Carr elaborated, “The intention behind the rule is to prevent instances like this – unfair and politically biased behavior from a broadcasting station, exploiting public airwaves to sway votes for one candidate just before an election. This can only be justified if the broadcaster provides Equal Opportunity to other eligible campaigns as well.
