As a hardcore gamer and Dragon Ball Z fan who has spent countless hours perfecting my Goku cosplay, I must say that McDonald’s Hong Kong’s Dragon Ball Daima collaboration is a dream come true! The fact that they’ve managed to incorporate not just the characters but also the iconic Dragon Balls into their menu items is truly impressive.
McDonald’s has teamed up with the Dragon Ball Z franchise to develop an array of meals inspired by anime, yet these unique offerings may prove elusive.
13th November saw McDonald’s Hong Kong unveiling their unique anime collaboration via Instagram and Facebook, showcasing the partnership with Kid Goku in a promotional video. The video highlights new combo deals such as fries, shakes, a crispy katsu-style sandwich filled with cutlets, and fried dough balls.
The standout feature in McDonald’s collaboration with Dragon Ball Daima is the Chicken Katsu Burger, which can be purchased as part of a deal that includes fries and a drink for only HK$39 (approximately US$5), marking a reduction from its original price of HK$45 (around US$6).
With a hint of nostalgia, the Crispy Purple Sweet Potato Balls are reminiscent of the legendary Dragon Balls, costing around HK$9 (approximately US$1). These balls not only remind fans of Goku but also introduce characters such as Piccolo and Bulma on their packaging.

Paying homage to the world of Dragon Ball, Piccolo, a Namekian who subsists on liquid meals, is showcased as the emblem for McDonald’s White Grape Yogurt-Flavored Soda with Fruit Cocktail. Concurrently, Bulma graces the packaging for the Okonomiyaki Flavored McShaker French Fries.
At present, this Dragon Ball collaboration can be found exclusively in McDonald’s outlets within Hong Kong. As of now, there’s no information regarding its potential availability at McDonald’s branches beyond this region.
In the past, North American chains have been involved with various anime-related promotions. For instance, they’ve offered Jujutsu Kaisen’s Special Grade Garlic sauce and toys from Yu-Gi-Oh! Happy Meals featuring Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters.
Speaking of McDonald’s updates, they’ve rolled out a new Bestie Bundle meal which includes exclusive buddy bands, following the launch of an adult-oriented Friends-themed Happy Meal earlier this month. Unfortunately, this offering won’t be available to everyone.
