Weak Destiny 2 Supers are finally getting buffed in Revenant Act 2 but it’s not enough

As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent battling Hydra, Acolytes, and even the occasional Vex, I eagerly anticipate the Revenant Act 2 updates to Destiny 2’s PvE sandbox. The promise of buffing underperforming subclasses has been a long-awaited whisper in the Tower for many players like me.

Bungie is planning significant adjustments to Destiny 2’s Player-versus-Environment (PvE) gameplay environment as Revenant Act 2 approaches, promising a transformation in the game’s standard playstyle or ‘meta’.

In the second installment of Episode Revenant, set to debut on November 19, you’ll find fresh content and new loot to pursue, all part of our weekly update. But that’s not all – we’re also using this chance to boost several underperforming subclasses that players have asked for enhancements in for quite some time.

On November 14th, the developer wrote extensively about an issue they encountered while balancing Super recharge rates. This led to a significant imbalance in the selection of one-time Supers compared to their roaming equivalents, making the former far more popular.

To handle this issue, the studio has reviewed and adjusted the “regeneration settings for all roaming Supers when fighting AI opponents exclusively.” Following the update, the rate at which Super energy is produced by damaging enemies will be significantly boosted, approximately tripling the current amount in the live game.

Bungie stated that using a Roaming Super in situations where you might urgently require it for panic activations or to overcome enemy spawn points is more probable. They also noted an enhancement in the damage inflicted by these Supers against Champions, which ranges from 30% to 55%.

The Supers affected by these buffs include:

Hunter

  • Arc Staff
  • Golden Gun
    • Excludes Celestial Nighthawk variant as it is classified as a one-off Super.
  • Spectral Blades
  • Silkstrike

Titan

  • Fists of Havoc
  • Burning Maul
    • Excludes Pyrogale Gauntlets variant as it is classified as a one-off Super.
  • Hammer of Sol
  • Sentinel Shield
  • Glacial Quake
  • Bladefury

Warlock

  • Stormtrance
  • Daybreak
  • Nova Warp
  • Winter’s Wrath
Weak Destiny 2 Supers are finally getting buffed in Revenant Act 2 but it’s not enough

Although these enhancements are generally viewed as beneficial, certain gamers remain unconvinced that they adequately address the shortcomings of the looter shooter’s least effective Super abilities.

“Stormtrance will still not be used after the roaming Super update,” claimed one user on Destiny 2’s subreddit. “Arclock in general is hampered by how bad the Supers are and the lack of survivability. It doesn’t matter how many times you can get Stormtrance because it still does no damage,” they continued, followed by numerous responses in unanimous agreement.

As a gamer, I’m well aware that Bungie is planning some significant changes to roaming Supers, and they’ll be observing how these alterations play out over the “next few weeks and months.” If my favorite Super isn’t living up to the mark post-update, I might need to be patient and wait for Bungie to find that elusive balance.

Each time, it’s wiser to roll out significant upgrades gradually to avoid a repeat of the Forsaken Nova Warp incident. However, only time will tell how events unfold.
