Best AK-74 loadout in Warzone: Class setup, attachments, perks

As a seasoned Warzone player with hundreds of hours under my belt, I’ve found myself drawn to the allure of the AK-74 like a moth to a flame. This Soviet-born beauty has been a constant companion in my gaming life, and it’s not hard to see why. Its class-leading time-to-kill speed is a testament to its raw power, while its impressive damage range ensures that I can take down enemies from any distance.

If you can look past accuracy issues, and learn how to master the AK-74, the AR is an absolute force to be reckoned with in Warzone.

In Warzone, players often choose assault rifles (ARs) that excel at long-distance fights due to their precision. They’re ready to accept lower damage output if it ensures better handling and consistency in performance.

For those players who are self-assured with their aiming abilities, there’s no reason not to pursue a long-range meta weapon that excels in dealing damage to enemies, despite its high recoil. If such a weapon appeals to you, the AK-74 might just be what you’re looking for.

  • Optic: Jason Armory 2x
  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag II
  • Rear Grip: Commando Grip
  • Stock: Balanced Stock
  • Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

It’s our viewpoint that the AK-74 doesn’t stand out as a top choice in multiplayer scenarios without eight attachments. To maximize its potential, we recommend using the Gunfighter Wildcard. By doing so, you’ll forfeit the ability to use another primary weapon as your secondary, but the benefits should compensate for that restriction.

This collection of attachments effectively tackles the AR’s main issues, placing it in a superior category. To begin with, the compensator, vertical grip, and recoil springs all work to minimize both vertical and horizontal recoil.

Optics come down to personal preference, but we found that the Jason Armory 2x provides a perfect balance between being scoped in too much or not enough. It does take some adjusting getting used to there being no red dot on this scope, but it’s worth the change.

Simultaneously, the Commando Foregrip enhances the speed of aiming through sights and firing, while the Balanced Stock focuses on improving mobility in key aspects.

For optimal performance in an AR setup, it’s advisable to incorporate a Reinforced Barrel for enhanced damage and range, as well as bullet speed. Similarly, the Extended Mag II is beneficial since having additional ammo becomes crucial when engaging multiple enemies simultaneously.

Best AK-74 Perks, Equipment & Class Specialty

  • Perk 1: Dexterity
  • Perk 2: Quick Fix
  • Perk 3: Tempered
  • Wildcard: Overkill
  • Lethal: Throwing Knife
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade

Mastering agility against opponents is essential in Warzone, and having an advantage with a slower Assault Rifle setup will be beneficial. This is why Dexterity, which decreases weapon sway during slides, rolls, and jumps while also minimizing fall damage, makes an excellent choice as your first Perk.

In this situation, the most sensible option seems to be Quick Fix, as it restores health upon inserting a medkit or achieving a kill. Furthermore, you can even fire your weapon without aiming while equipping a medkit, which could prove useful in numerous scenarios.

Sprinter is often chosen due to its ability to let you perform continuous tactical sprints. However, it’s important to note that this can be misleading. The tactical sprint can indeed be maintained indefinitely with the designated melee weapon. This perk will only prove beneficial if you play aggressively enough that you don’t have a chance to draw your weapon before engaging in combat.

Instead of choosing among Ghost, Gung-Ho, Birdseye, and Alertness as the apparent options, we opted for Tempered, as it enables you to attain complete armor using just two plates rather than three.

Instead of Frag Grenades, we chose to use Throwing Knives for dispatching defeated adversaries. Lastly, Smoke Grenades offer concealment when crossing open expanses or retreating from enemies.

Where is the AK-74 in the Warzone meta?

Looking at the firing range target above, it’s clear that the recoil is manageable with the optimal set of attachments for your gun. Adding to this, the Ak-74 outperforms all ARs in Black Ops 6 when it comes to speed in gunfights within a 36-meter range, making it challenging to find other superior choices.

Players may need to make adjustments for precision issues when fighting enemies that are farther away. Yet, in the case of Resurgence maps, there won’t be any problems encountering engagements from any distance.

How to unlock AK-74 in Warzone

To acquire the AK-74, you simply need to progress to Level 10 in the game Warzone. This is good news because it’s an early unlock, meaning you won’t have to spend a significant amount of time playing before you can add it to your arsenal.

Warzone AK-74 alternatives

Even the most skilled Warzone players will have problems handling the AK-74’s inconsistent and jumpy recoil pattern. In addition, it takes eight attachments to make this AR truly shine, meaning you can’t carry an SMG as a secondary weapon. It’s a viable gun, but it has problems.

If you’re looking for a change, we suggest considering the highly precise Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) model 91 or the versatile XM4 unit instead.
