As a dedicated fan of both HBO and DC’s Green Lantern comics, I couldn’t help but jump for joy when I heard about Poorna Jagannathan joining the cast of “Lanterns.” With her diverse and impressive resume, ranging from “The Night Of” to “Never Have I Ever,” it’s no surprise that she’s been chosen to bring Zoe, a character described as both confident and cunning, to life.

Actress Poorna Jagannathan has secured a recurring part in the forthcoming HBO show “Lanterns,” as confirmed by EbMaster.

As a die-hard comic book fan, especially of DC’s Green Lantern series, I can’t help but feel thrilled when I learn about new additions to the upcoming show. I’m ecstatic to see that Jagannathan has joined the already announced leading stars, Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, in this series. Furthermore, I’m excited about the presence of Kelly Macdonald and Garret Dillahunt in the cast as well. This promises to be an exciting journey through the Green Lantern universe!

According to the given logline, this series focuses on “John Stewart (played by Pierre), a novice in the intergalactic police force, and Hal Jordan (portrayed by Chandler), an established space cop. They are both pulled into a sinister mystery rooted on Earth when they investigate a murder that has occurred in the Midwest of America.

Jagannathan will portray Zoe, a woman who exudes an effortless self-assurance and grace, regardless of the environment, including situations where she draws attention. She matches the composure and shrewdness of the powerful men surrounding her.

Earlier, Jagannathan featured prominently in the HBO limited series “The Night Of,” portraying Safar Khan. On television, she is widely recognized for her part in the Netflix comedy “Never Have I Ever” and is set to appear in the forthcoming Onyx Collective series “Deli Boys” on Hulu. In cinema, he recently acted alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt in “Wolfs,” and has roles in films such as “Turtles All the Way Down,” “Mile 22,” and “The Circle.

She is repped by Gersh, Untitled, and Hansen Jacobson.

The series, originally slated for Max but later moved due to a content reorganization plan, is now airing on HBO. It’s jointly produced by HBO, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios, and was greenlit for eight episodes in June by HBO.

The screenplay for “Lanterns” was penned collectively by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. Each of them holds the title of executive producer, while James Hawes assumes this role as well, adding his expertise as the director for the first two episodes.
