Avowed Steelbook Premium Edition Is Up For Preorder, Comes With Five-Day Early Access

As an avid gamer who has been following Obsidian’s work since their Fallout: New Vegas days, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement when it comes to Avowed. With its February 18 release date fast approaching, I find myself eagerly awaiting the immersive first-person fantasy RPG that promises to deliver an experience reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls series yet distinctly Obsidian.

2024 boasted a multitude of fantastic role-playing games across various genres, and it appears that 2025 is set to continue this trend with Avowed, slated for release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass on February 18. This upcoming first-person fantasy RPG hails from Obsidian Entertainment, a renowned developer known for successful titles such as Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds, Pentiment, among others.

Although the game, Avowed, is still a few months away, you can now pre-order several editions of it. Some of these editions not only provide early access to the game but also additional content as bonuses. However, those who prefer physical collectibles might find the options slightly limited.

Avowed Preorder Bonuses

Before its official release, those who pre-order the Digital Premium or Steelbook Premium Editions of Avowed will get a head start and can play the full game five days earlier, starting from February 13th. These special editions also include exclusive content.

If you’re not interested in the physical items that come with the standard edition, consider opting for the Avowed Digital Premium Edition instead priced at $90. This version offers the complete game and all digital content from the physical edition but foregoes the steelbook case, map, and letter. Plus, you’ll get a 5-day early access advantage. If you prefer to purchase only the game without any extra items or early access, there’s a $70 standard digital edition available for preorder on Xbox, PC via Best Buy, Microsoft Store, and Steam. Interestingly, if you’re playing World of Warcraft, you can acquire the game on PC using in-game gold as one of the payment options through Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher.

As a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber and an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that the exclusive title, Avowed, will be added to our collection on Xbox Series X|S and PC! While I won’t technically own the game, I’ll get to experience it at launch for the most affordable price.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate grants access not only to numerous Game Pass games like Avowed, but also cloud streaming for them. If you’re intrigued by playing Avowed through the cloud or desire a fresh Xbox Wireless Controller, you might want to explore Amazon’s limited-time deal. This package includes an Xbox Wireless Controller, an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, and a one-month prepaid card for Game Pass Ultimate all for $75 (originally $137). Keep in mind that cloud streaming quality can sometimes be inconsistent and may not match the stability and smoothness of playing on console or Windows. However, this is an easy and cost-effective method to enjoy the game if you don’t currently own an Xbox Series X|S or a gaming PC.

Additionally, there’s a package priced at $80 that includes the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. This bundle provides a more stable connection and improved performance. Notably, the latest Fire Sticks are compatible with the Game Pass app, so acquiring one of these bundles will give you everything needed to play Avowed.

As a gamer, diving into Avowed feels like stepping into an alternate universe that shares some traits with beloved RPGs like The Elder Scrolls series. However, it’s not just another expansive open world; instead, it’s more reminiscent of Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG, The Outer Worlds. Both games are set in smaller, interconnected zones rather than one massive, continuous landscape. Microsoft will be releasing a couple of exclusive titles, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, before year’s end, and these versions come with steelbook editions. The Premium Deluxe Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 takes flight on November 19th for $130. On the same day, you can also purchase Thrustmaster’s T-Flight Hotas Collector’s Edition Flight Stick, a Flight Sim 2024 themed accessory that costs $100 and complements this edition perfectly.

As a hardcore gamer, I can’t contain my excitement! Indiana Jones and the Great Circle drops on the Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 9th. And guess what? There’s still time to secure the Collector’s Edition before it vanishes, which you can pre-order right now at Walmart!

The game “Avowed” is set in the same fictional universe as the “Pillars of Eternity” series by Obsidian. Unlike “Avowed”, which is a first-person, single-player RPG, the Pillars of Eternity games are top-down, party-based RPGs similar to classic computer games like Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale. While you don’t need to have played the Pillars of Eternity games to understand the story of Avowed, they’re still recommended for fans of classic computer RPGs or anyone interested in learning more about the setting. You can purchase PC versions of both “Pillars of Eternity” and its sequel, “Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire”, on GOG. They are also available on Xbox One and PS4, and you can buy a pre-owned copy of “Pillars of Eternity II” at GameStop.
