As a veteran gamer with decades of League of Legends under my belt, I must say, Caedrel‘s latest move has got me both intrigued and amused. Having witnessed the meteoric rise of this streamer from his humble beginnings to ruling Twitch during Worlds 2024, I can confidently say that his audacity knows no bounds.
Caedrel, the leading League of Legends streamer, has assembled a skilled team featuring both seasoned pros and some unexpected picks, ensuring a thrilling showcase if nothing else.
At times, Worlds 2024 outshone Riot’s own broadcast in terms of audience, catapulting Caedrel to the pinnacle of Twitch and solidifying him as one of the platform’s most prominent streamers. Achieving a peak of approximately 400,000 simultaneous viewers is a feat that only a select few creators have managed.
Not only is Caedrel organizing a League of Legends awards ceremony in early December, but he’s also revealed his intention to create an LOL pro team featuring both seasoned players and individuals with the potential for a rocky performance on the top side.
LOS RATONES 2025
— LosRatones (@LosRatoneslol) November 15, 2024
The roster is as follows:
- Top: Thebausffs
- Jungle: Velja
- Mid: Nemesis
- ADC: Crownie
- Support: Rekkles
This roster, from reintroducing Nemesis to competitive play and providing Rekkles a position in Europe, to placing Thebaus on a professional team, is quite unusual. Yet, in their roster unveiling video, Caedrel asserted his intention to preserve Thebaus’ aggressive gameplay style and strive to improve it so that it leads to victories.
For those who may not know, Thebausffs has received fair penalties due to his history of intentionally losing games, a playstyle he is known for. It’s interesting to contemplate how his behavior might be addressed or impacted when placed in a professional league setting.
Instead of splurging on expensive big-name players to dominate the ERL, Caedrel is focusing more on providing entertainment and assembling familiar faces from the LEC in one spot. The only player who remains somewhat enigmatic is Velja, a highly-rated Challenger jungler. Caedrel aims to give Velja an opportunity with Los Ratones, hoping that this experience could lead to chances in the LEC.
Which league is Los Ratones competing in?
At present, Caedrel hasn’t definitively chosen the specific ERL (Esports Regional League) region where his team will participate, but he’s certain they’ll be taking part in competitions across Europe. Initially, he thought about establishing an entire streamer league, but ultimately rejected the idea due to the challenges involved in setting up a functional league with numerous teams.
Apart from the NACL squad, he pondered over the possibility of his team making the cut for the LTA North, if they proved themselves worthy. Yet, Caedrel acknowledged his limited understanding of the North American region, and the time zone challenges that prevented him from fully committing to it.
After switching careers from a professional player to a streamer, he decided to join a team based in Europe. With numerous possibilities available due to the existence of 13 ERL regions worldwide, it’s possible that he aims to participate in one of the more well-known leagues such as the LFL (France), the SuperLiga (Spain), or the Prime League (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).
Rekkles has shown a desire to play video games at home since spending a year competing in Korea with T1 team, which would allow him more time with his family. It’s probable that he will participate in a gaming league nearby for the sake of having a good internet connection.
Given the struggling state of the ERL and multiple teams from various Tier 2 regions withdrawing due to financial issues, Caedrel’s participation could boost viewership and invigorate the EMEA scene with renewed energy.
