As a long-time Madden player, I remember back in late 2022 a lot of us suddenly lost our online leagues in Madden 23. EA said it was a storage problem that messed up the files. Some people were lucky enough to get their leagues restored, but many weren’t. EA never told us exactly how many leagues or players were affected, but trust me, the Madden subreddit, EA’s forums, and Discord were *blowing up* with frustrated players. Now, it looks like we’re dealing with the same nightmare all over again in Madden 26. It’s really frustrating to see this happen repeatedly!
The issue didn’t happen all at once, and players are now seeing a slightly more optimistic error message, but we still don’t know what’s causing the problem or if impacted leagues can be fixed.
Some players are encountering an error message stating the league they’ve chosen is currently unavailable. The message asks them to try again later and apologizes for the trouble, automatically returning them to the game launcher.
Usually, players see this message when the game is being updated. However, some players have been seeing it for weeks now. One player in my league reported that another league he’s in has been unavailable for over a month. Yesterday, it happened to our 32-player league as well. We’re starting to make backup plans, just in case we can’t access our league.
I’ve been seeing a lot of worry online lately – a ton of people are freaking out that their leagues seem to have disappeared! I’ve found so many threads on the forums where players are saying the same thing – like here, here, and here. If you look through the franchise-related posts, it’s just thread after thread of the same concern. It’s not just the forums either, Reddit is full of people experiencing this too.
We’re not sure if this problem is new, but it’s impacting different fantasy leagues at different times, unlike what happened in 2022 when many leagues were affected simultaneously. Some players have seen their leagues recover after a few days, but others have been waiting for weeks without success. Yesterday, an EA community manager posted an update on the EA Forums, saying they’ve alerted their team to the issue and are currently investigating. They promised to share more information and updates on the forum thread as it becomes available.
This new issue with the Franchise mode isn’t stemming from the same problems as the one in late 2022, but the impact on players is the same: all their time and effort – sometimes hundreds of hours – can be lost instantly.
TopMob has reached out to EA for a statement regarding this matter and will provide updates as soon as we receive a response.
