Johnny Somali flexes emergency passport as streamer faces jail time in South Korea

As a long-time observer of Johnny Somali’s chaotic adventures across the globe, I must say his latest escapade in South Korea has taken the cake. From Japan to Israel, and now South Korea, it seems like the man can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

It appears that contentious live-streamer, Johnny Somali, might be attempting to depart from South Korea, despite his ban on leaving the nation and the prospect of serving a long jail term.

Johnny Somali, originally known as Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is now a well-known figure among online content creators, seemingly evading legal authorities in South Korea.

Initially gaining infamy after inciting disorder in Japan, leading only to a fine as punishment, this controversial Kick streamer subsequently shifted his live streams to Israel. There, he managed to evade repercussions for verbally harassing a female police officer on one occasion.

Currently, Somali has moved to South Korea and carried on with his activities. Yet, South Korea is not taking things lightly. Frequently, Korean livestreamers have singled out Somali and subjected him to harassment, while authorities have kept a close eye on him.

To date, it appears that Ismael is facing accusations for obstructing business due to an occurrence within a 7-Eleven, and the authorities are also examining allegations of drug misuse. If proven guilty, this offense could potentially carry a sentence of up to ten years in Korea.

He could also be facing additional jail time for using deepfake AI to depict himself kissing Korean streamer bongbong.

In South Korea, Somali was prevented from departing due to suspected wrongdoings, yet on the 12th of November, he shared a video on TikTok boasting about possessing an emergency travel document.

In the clip, Somali danced around holding a purple emergency passport while flipping off the camera.

In case a U.S. citizen’s regular passport gets misplaced, stolen, or damaged, they can obtain an emergency passport from their local U.S. Embassy.

There seems to be no information on when he got this passport, however, ‘canceljohnnys,’ a user who’s been tracking the streamer since his turmoil in Japan, suggests that it might be the identical one he was given in Israel.

Johnny Somali couldn’t settle his hotel bill in Israel, causing them to confiscate his regular passport. As a result, they provided him with an emergency passport,” he clarified.

Given that Johnny is temporarily prohibited from exiting South Korea at the moment, it seems extremely doubtful that an emergency passport would help him escape this situation. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether or when he may attempt to board a plane.

On a subsequent day following his passport video, Somali uploaded a video to Instagram from a 7-Eleven livestream. This video led to accusations of obstructing business operations. Contrary to expectations, in this particular video, Somali was observed tidying up a mess within the store rather than causing one.

I maintain my innocence, as I believe there’s corruption within the Korean government and media. I’ve been comparing myself to OJ Simpson in an Asian context.

It seems like Ismael might claim innocence, but we’ll need to wait for his actual defense during his initial and potentially subsequent court hearings in South Korea to understand his stance more clearly.
